This show is the bees knees. I was on a tape tree for this tour via rmp and was getting the shows about 1.5 weeks after they happened (which was super quick for the ol’ tape trading days) and the quality was super dank. I remember getting super blown out, cranking this on the stereo, turning the lights off, and having my mind completely blown. The Jim, Gumbo combo to open is tight and funky. Then the Maze just gets fucking weird…obviously the band could feel it too because they just abandoned any attempt at finishing the tune. 2001->Funky Bitch is a nice mid-first set treat and again brings the funk. Guyute rears its ugly head and then they destroy this Antelope. I listen to jams like this Antelope and just think “these guys are fucking geniuses”.

The second set is a total mind fuck / dance party. So much of the stuff from this tour is hard to do justice with words and really nothing even needs to be said. A four song second-set that goes so many different places it’s incredible…from straight funk to completely psychedelic, it really has it all. And the little jam between Twist and Slave is really something special.
