This is one of the best shows that I’ve never heard. I was listening to it yesterday while in the lab and I was blown away. The whole show is bursting with energy, creativeness, and great communication between all the members. I’m a sucker for a Ya Mar opener as it was the opener at my first Phish show, then they bang right into AC/DC Bag, which Trey destroys and Foam (back when Foam was still raging). The Theme is not bad, though nothing really special, but a Mound followed by a pretty damn good Stash. There’s a minute or so where Trey is playing a lot of really fast notes and they sound a little out of place but he calms down and settles back in with the rest of the band for the peak of the tune. Fee, Taste and then Loving Cup (again before it kinda got played out) round out the set quite nicely.

This second set is just awesome Phish. A 17 minute Bowie that features Trey playing around with a lot of different textures and less soloing-type play, which leaves the rest of the band (esp Page) to really shine. A quick Day in the Life before they turn right into an epic Bathtub Gin. This jam starts off pretty standard, then leads to some more textured type jamming, then Page and Mike turn the jam toward that heavy groove-oriented jamming that was the feature of this tour. Good shit, lots of clav, great dance rhythms etc. The YEM that follows is again more of the slower paced YEM jamming they were playing around with then and it’s just great. Then a bunch of weird “Groove is in your Heart” teases and lyrics before the vocal jam. Trey pwns the Fire and then Page ends the show nicely with a Coil solo. Again, never heard this show and would recommend it to anyone looking for something different.
