I went to this show… I just listened to it again today…DWD has some real strong Simple themes but instead of Simple they play Lizards first…straight into Simple…it’s great!

A couple thoughts on this DWD.

This baby’s got three things that make December '95 jams awesome: Purpose, fire, and weirdness. At 18 to 20 minutes in, it almost sounds like ALO Tweezer, with odd syncopated noise making. Not quite music, but definitely musical. This beast has four arms and one head, but I’m mostly struck by Page’s drive and intensity in December '95 jams. At 20 minutes he’s established a solid progression, over which he and Trey riff back and forth.

This show rages. The Ya Mar opener is really fun and Trey locks into this really cool groove during the guitar solo. While this isn’t the most exploratory Antelope ever, it certainly rages. And Page has a really pretty piano solo out of Coil to cap it off.

I was going to gush about the DWD in the second set but Drew probably said it better than I could have. I love December 95 and this is just one reason why. Good inspired shit right here. And a perfectly placed Lizards right out of it, followed by Simple (a personal fave) and a rockin Jim to close the second set? Word. One of those “you need to hear this show” shows.
