2: The Curtain-> Tweezer-> Timber (Jerry)-> Tweezer, Keyboard Army, Halley’s Comet*-> NICU#> Slave to the Traffic Light

E: Bold as Love

*With a very un-“Halley’s”-like jam into “NICU.” #Returned to jam that came out of “Halley’s” before heading into “Slave.”

This is probably my favorite show of all time to listen to. The Halley’s->NICU>Slave is one of the greatest jams of all time. The textures and moods that are weaved in those songs were the first of their kind for those songs. I don’t think there are too many sets that feature two jams that have the same modes and themes within them like in that sequence. That’s a big reason why I think this show is unique. That signature Fall 95 sound is just about perfected all throughout this show, specifically in the aforementioned jams. The Timber->Tweezer isn’t too shabby in my opinion, but is all too short for me. I just can’t mention enough how bad ass the Halley’s and NICU are. If I had to pick one show to listen to, it would probably be this one just because of that sequence.

The first set’s SoaMelt, Tela, taste (fog that surrounds), my sweet one and frankenstein are tight and energetic. When Trey announced the break I thought, “That was only the first set?”

This show shreds.

A lot.

The Suzy>Llama, which not indicated on the setlist, is quite nice, especially with Trey giving his wah a workout here and throughout the show. I think this Makisupa is extra-good and full of atmosphere. This was the first time I’ve heard Taste played as Fog That Surrounds, and I really like it. I agree with those above that noted the Halley’s jam as unique. Wonderful work, and I can see why it’s one of the first shows they released.

What you can’t hear on the tapes was the insane silent jam during SOAM… You can hear it get real quiet at a certain ppoint and all the crowd screaming in time to the silent jam… Best show I’ve ever been to…

just listened to this 2nd set whilst on a walk around the ole neighborhood.

holy shit goddamn this is some fire right here.

literally every part of the set is a highlight.

Halley’s and NICU have never taken me where these ones just took me.

Was reminded of this show a few times today because of the Nor’easter making it hard to travel to Worcester right now.

There was a pretty bad snowstorm the night of this show and my parents tried to forbid me to go, which I refused. In a last ditch effort, they told me I couldn’t drive my car, which was insured in their names. We ended up going in my friend’s piece of shit, barely heated, car and saw one hell of an amazing night of music. A very formative show for me as far as my specific live Phish tastes go.

^ That’s weird, I was just reading another thread mentioning that this was one of the major notable Phish shows played in snowstorms. That is so weird, as this has always been one of my favorite Phish shows, and I do think snow is pretty decent, you know. Can’t wait for NYC, although it seems that a lot of that snow will be gone by the time of the shows, as the weather is supposed to be warm during the week, in the low to mid 40’s.

This show is just brilliant. A scorching first set with an amazing Melt and just pure energy through the whole thing.

To me the second set is nothing less than an epic journey with teh Phish. Every time I listen to that second set I feel like I’m transported to so many crazy and unique places and then just dropped back into reality going :wtf: :open_mouth:

Is there any video of this show? I would love to see the silent jam during melt.

There is a reason this is Live Phish Vol 1…One of the most stunning shows ever, just shear Fire throughout.
This is a great 1st show to give someone who wants to get into Phish…

One of the best Slaves ever in my opinion…

Just listened to the first four songs after not listening to this show in years.

As Page goes, so goes Phish.

It’s amazing how Trey reacts to Page. When Page is fired, Trey knows it and tends to pick more songs that have key piano highlights. Really surprised there was no Maze in this show.

Great playing so far.

BRING BACK FOG THAT SURROUNDS!!!

^I’ve been sayin that for years!!!

FTS is far better than what Taste eventually became…Love the Fish vox parts…

I respectfully disagree with you guys on this one. The beginning of Fog that Surrounds makes me cringe a little bit.

What? You don’t like the harmonic angelic vocals of one Jonny B. Fishman??

pfft

It’s the best part!!! I seriously think it sounds awesome…And this version is sick, Jam is fantastic…

95 slaves. 95 anything. I was 23. Was a nice dream I had.

I saw 12/11, 12/12… 12/16, 12/17… Shoulda just followed em in between eh!!!0
