This is too darn good to have no comments. Been listening to the MSG runs, and this is quite possibly my favorite of any of them. One of my favorite Tubes ever.

I’ll take the bait, Will.

This was my fourth f’ing show and it was wonderful. Damn, my first four Phish shows were really what cemented my obsession with the band (8/14, 12/2, 12/3 and this one). Call me Fortunato.

I kind of remember agreeing with Benjy Eisen that the first set was up and down. But I do remember being mightly hosed by the last three songs of the set, especially the Fluffhead.

The second set was just overall great. The Bowie>Possum being very reminiscent of the Bowie>Possum from 12/3/97, the last show I saw before this one. I like the earlier versions a little better, but these were pretty hot in their own right.

I only have this show on tape, so I haven’t listened to it in a while. Think I’ll get it to more portable media. Thanks Will!

I have to listen to this one again. Kind of badly, when I think about it.

Yea this show is tits

Favorite Tube besides maybe 4-2-98 nastayness.

I really like how in the longer Bowies, Fish, Mike and Page would all be playing the ending chord progression in the jam while, instead of playing the ending triplets lick, Trey just keeps jamming and whatnot. Another sign, I think, of how he was more patient in a time far, far, far.

I actually think this first set is bursting with energy…I can’t recall any ‘downs’. I mean maybe from a song selection standpoint, but the opening trio is fire, especially as the first two songs are standard gimme’s.

The second set is sick…I can never decide if I like this Bowie->Possum better or the 12/3 one. Prob the 12/3 one, but it really doesn’t matter. They both kick some major arse.
