Oh, hello.

This show gets overlooked because of the next night; however I love this show! The best Mike’s Groove I’ve ever seen. If you were there you know what’s up. Smoke completely covered the band…Holy shit it was dark goodness!

^agreed 100%. The way the lights came out of the smoke were very trippy.

^ Oh my god, I’d completely forgotten about that… that was back during the twirly rolling red and white lights shooting through the smoke… damn.

And then when they played LUOLMA.

Yeah that was cool.

I wasn’t there. I mean, I was…but I wasn’t. You know how it goes.

One of the most underrated festival shows ever. I have this show on five disks, and except maybe for the Big Alligator stuff in the first set, and even that was fun in the spirit of the event, there aren’t too many poorly played songs in these three sets. The band was super charged to be at BC and that energy permeated so much of the music, that from a consistency standpoint, it is probably one of the best executed festival shows in their history.

I revisited this show this week on my drive to work, and it had me thinking about 8. I really believe that the conditions are ripe for 8 to be as killer as most of BC. The band is happy, well rehearsed after a great summer tour, they have new music and new album out, it’s their first Halloween disguise since Loaded, and the polo club in Indio is just a cool place to be playing an outdoor show in. If they can keep the backstage nonsense that plagued them for years at a minimum, I’m telling you, even if you’re not in attendance, the music that comes out of this festival should be pretty outrageous.

Well said Fone.

12-30 gets overlooked so much.
That first set is just bursting with energy. Light up, Corrine Corrina, Possum. Character 0 all are top notch.

And: Chalk Dust Torture, The Moma Dance, Run Like an Antelope, The Sloth, When The Circus Comes, Mike’s Song > Simple -> I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove. = :astonished: :open_mouth: :smiling_imp:   :sunglasses: not necessarily in that order.

The jam in Mikes Song is quintessential 98-00. Dark, spacey, groovy. Absolutely love this version. If I had been there to have heard this, I would fear for my life, with Y2K, a head full, and all that other jazz going on.

That’s funny that you say that because that’s exactly how I felt during this Mikes. On another note, I really like the Antelope from this show, just for the part after the final peak and before the Rye, Rye Rocco line. For some reason it just reminds me of the music that was on Nintendo games, and I love it.

A GREAT night/day at the venue too, the buzz was INTENSE!

The, umm…

“hettiness”

…is staggering.

::hopes pronunciation is correct::

I had as much, OR MORE, fun this night than the following!!!

What a special day in the swamp

Because of the “Light Up or Leave Me Alone?”

Agreed

Yeah this night was one of the best of my life.

And yes there was a moment in Mike’s Song where I thought ‘holy shit the world is about to end…well at least I’m at a Phish show’

Cheesecake!!!

What I meant to type, was the upcoming cheesecake night was the pinnacle to the week…
