Notes: Arena floor and stage appear to be covered by a green lawn of live grass. Preshow webcast shows fans playing garden sports like badminton and mini-golf. During the first setbreak, golfers came on stage and hit soft golf balls into the crowd. Light contained an Auld Lang Syne tease. You Enjpy Myself contained a Birds of a Feather tease. Trey, Page and Mike came out for the third set in golf carts and began hitting golf balls into the crowd. Then Fish arrived on a golf cart wearing do-nut pants and shirt, an argyle vest, and a golf hat. Golf carts were brought back on stage during Kung, then began racing past the stage periodically More and more golf carts joined the marathon. During the Chalkdust jam, golfers began getting out of the carts, hitting balls into the crowd and dancing on stage. One of the golfers did the New Year’s countdown from on top of a cart. Ping pong balls were fired from cannons during Auld Lang Syne. Tweezer Reprise featured a number of backup singers. Iron Man was preceded by Page coming to the front of the stage in a jacket, USS Nimitz ball cap and holding a golf club to wish the crowd Happy New Year and reference the start of the 30th year of Phish. Page sang lead on Iron Man.

The Kung was also part of the gag.

Seriously had a blast last night! Phish really Knows how to do it right. The Runaway Golf Cart Marathon was awesome!

^So cool!!!

Also Wilson was part of Gag, they showed a Wilson Golf ball on the Scoreboard before song…

Here’s that blurb on GARDEN PARTY Opener from Wikipedia:
“Garden Party” is a 1972 hit song for Rick Nelson and the Stone Canyon Band from the album Garden Party. The song tells the story of Nelson being booed off the stage at Madison Square Garden, seemingly because he was playing his newer, country-tinged music instead of the 1950s-era rock that he had been successful with earlier, and his realization that “you can’t please everyone, so you’ve got to please yourself”.

thasnks for the vids errand. you know i had to miss the set. but to be honest, it looked WAY better than it read on paper and probably better than it sounded

great gag. love it. iron man was fun too. any show that features little people is a great show to me (and fishman, i bet too)

Great show all the way through! We had a fun little couch tour NYE party. The show was perfectly curated; first set amped up and pure heat (except for motherfuckingALASKAagain). Second set was simply majestic- Birds opener, followed by a series of incredible jams in and out of cerebral songs and culminating in a perfectly timed YEM. And we all know that there is NOTHING better than a perfectly timed YEM. Cap it off with a whacky 3rd set full of zany antics and nice jams.

Could have used one more song after Iron Man though…maybe Lizards or something. Either way, good show.

i disagree, i think alaska was pretty hot. the understated backbeat creepin groove is really starting to give it an identity of its own, other than what people complained as “alaska jed”

disclosure: i never disliked alaska, but every time it pops up it seems to add another layer of depth. it isnt quite as developed as ocelot has been, but then again, they dont play alaska nearly as much as ocelot

Love that last line.

after watching the first part of the Iron Man video all I could imagine was Little screaming “BILLY CRYSTAL!!” after Page asked if they knew who he was

I felt the same after Iron Man. I said Lizards last night as well which is to funny. Alaska was AWESOME last night and has really grown as a tune.
I loved the second set musically. The Third set was just insane with all the antics. I also got engaged before the show last night so it was an all around killer evening. Wish I could have seen some of you guys there.

We are making it an annual trip now for our Anniversary to spend it with Phish!

Does anyone have an extra Golf Ball from last night? We were up to far to even have a chance to get one and I would love to have one to remember the night.
Seriously still riding the high from last night.

aww, too bad they didnt play sparkle for ya

congratz. sounds like a great anniversary tradition

i only hope you were “iron man” for her when you got back to the hotel/pad when the show was over!
