Backwards Down The Number Line

I dont know what to think and thats a good thing. Im leaning towards thinking that they’re still gonna dwell on the simpler but still jammed out popier songs for their new material but this time it actually might be good and innovative like billy breathes and story of the ghost, which are my favorite studio albums for studio reasons. The new songs I heard from the roxbury event were strong songs with strong melodys and even better, strong lyrics. I heard alaska and backwards down the number line which were both incredible. I think they were both pinned by marshall and also I heard that, in fact, trey and marshall have written a whole new batch of songs together which I love to hear. Tom said in an interview that it felt like they were kids again when they were writing some of their best stuff together and that he feels like he has the old trey back. Backwards down the number line is such an emotional summary of treys life and obviously speaking about the freindship between him and tom or maybe vice versa. I find that when both tom and trey are on their game TOGETHER phish churns out great stuff thats a perfect balance between compostional craziness and lyrical, melodic beauty. So on that note. The best would be a new song that gives a whiff of whats to come. Hopefully something they can jam out a little to also show what direction the music will be headed. I dont know though that could also be a lot of pressure so maybe they’ll wanna break the ice first. My vote either a Runaway Jim like their life depended it or a piper for obvious lyrical reasons.

I think the curtain with would be perfect as well
start it where they finished off on the last round

actually even more for lyrical reasons; DESTINY UNBOUND,
FUCK YES!!!

Hasn’t been mentioned yet, and I don’t know if it’s ever been a opener…Bathtub Gin.

No one would expect it, it’s hard to fuck up, it would keep the energy level high without being overwhelming, great sing along for everyone, and it would give everyone a chance to groove on like an 8 minute jam before they go straight into a loud pop song like Simple, Character Zero or Chalkdust. Can you imagine a really good psych Gin jam opening up into a raging Chalkdust? Epic city.

^ exactly.

And a groovy version to open the show 8 days before that!

Pardon me, 9 days.

HYHU, all the Johnny Cash, Syd Barret, and Neil Diamond covers, Cold As Ice, HYHU, Rehab by Amy W. Sabotage. e. Prep School Hippy

Tube then Divided Sky

they should play the “with” without the curtain. fuck the book ends, theyll get to it at some completely random show. i want hampton to be pitch black and i want to hear “ooom pa pa ooom pa pa” into sweet harpua. then ass soon as its over they dont even tell a story and just rip open the first chords of divided sky.

Comfortably numb… HA!

I’ve been thinking Seven Below Lately…Something were just not thinking of is what I think it will be.

Birds of a Feather ?

Maybe I’ll re-read all 11 pages of this thread and tally up the totals and post them. Serious and non-serious guesses included. After all, it’s the Friday before Christmas…what else do I have to do? Work?
