OK, I have felt this way for a long time, and got no real responses on any of the posts I wrote about this show. It is my favorite post-hiatus show, and I am feeling weird because NO ONE ever mentions it. I just received the DVDs, and my thoughts are even more confirmed. I am going to say this is the “Under the Radar Phish Show of the Post-Hiat.”

Fantastic playing throughout, as far as musically, there is no bad part. Page is absolutely on fire when it comes to the jams, and you can just tell everyone is having a good time on stage.

Sloth opener, how unexpected at the time. Then the PiperPaug that finished the groove from the night before. The jam into Weekapaug is just so perfect, Mike slowly starts thumping that bass slightly different, and then BAM! SOAMule, with backwards drum solo by Fishman, how often does that occur? Oh, and that is just part of the first set.

Second set opens with the post-hiatus break out of Tube, and then goes right into my personal favorite Bathtub Gin. This Gin jam was “normal” for about 12-15 minutes, then a slow Daves Energy Guide jam, and everything fell apart, in the most excellent of ways. About another 10 minutes later, and we finally realize we are still in the bath. Friday was a bummer, but it was my first time hearing it, so I didn’t mind too much. Bowie was on par with the rest of show, and then a nice Suzy encore to send us off into the cold Cincinnati night.

Thanks for reading… Just needed to get this off my chest after watching this show again thanks to the DVD ring which is starting to roll. So, any opinions on this show now, or am I still talking to myself?

The more I think about it, the more solid the winter tour seems. I realize the summer tour was crazy and so was the NYE run, but I think winter gets dismissed too easily.

It’s definately a SICK show. The more I watch it, the more I enjoy it!

Love set 2 in particular…

piper > weekapaug is HOTT, HOTT, HOTTT!!!

the whole show is sick…

i definitely agree. the cinci shows are awesome. and i think the three show run of 2/26, 2/28 and 3/1 is absolutely great stuff.

I’ve never heard the 22’cd. I’ve only listened to the first night which I really love. The 2cd set is simply awesome I think. Anyway back to the subject. The PiperPaug seems like it would be incredible. I’d like to give a listen. Would any of you good lads help me out with a B&P??? That would be soooo sweet!!!

someone hook this guy up…^^^

If you love the first night, your new mistress will be the second night. In my opinion, the first night is a little off kilter and sloppy in many sections. It only took a hotel fire to light the candle under their ass, because they really played the second night.

I heard the PiperPaug via Moma Dance a few months ago. I remember thinking that the segue was amazing, but the jams outside of that weren’t so great. Just my two cents. It’s satisfying in the way that Runaway Jim -> Foam from 12/29/94 is.

Chicago is the underrated show of that run IMO.

thanks for the suggestion. After reading this thread I downloaded this show. I listened today and was pleasantly surprised. I haven’t really been digging post-hiatus phish, but this ones a keeper. you guys have already listed the highpoints.

This “Bathtub Gin” is one of my favorites.

PH-wise, of course.
