Well the Cubs suffered a tough loss last night 2-1. Sean Marshall, much to my surprise (a day earlier than I though), got the spot start last night and he didn’t disappoint. He’s one of those guys where his curve ball needs to be working or he’s in trouble and last night his curve was working. He pitched 5 innings allowing only 2 runs, one of which was a leadoff homer from Hanley Ramirez, while striking out 8 fish. In the end though the Cubs could only muster one run off the bat of Henry Blanco in the form of a solo job. Cubs just left too many runners on base last night and couldn’t get that clutch hit last night. You can’t win them all and if they win today’s game it will give them a great road trip of 5-1. Dempster will pitch today against Chris Volstad.
Unfortunately, the Brewers and Cardinals both won last night so they both ease up the standings a bit. Let’s get them tomorrow. Go Dodgers, Go Reds.
Updated Standings:
Cubs 75-48
Brewers 4.5 GB
Cardinals 6.5 GB
Nice seats up and to the right from home, though the netting made a foul ball catch not an option. Unless we can sweep the Rays, it’s looking like another Wild Card berth. Go BoSox!
