^ Dude…know need for the IU shot…Purdue is going to be fucking us for the next couple of years so enjoy while you guys are the top school in Indiana for awhile. Give Crean a chance. We’ll suck the next couple of years, but we shall return.
Oh I’ll enjoy it, Fee my boy…
…and FUCK YES, PURDUE! Hook & Ladder! With their THIRD string QB! First victory over Michigan since Purdue’s Rose Bowl season in 2000.
Good stuff. Some momentum to build on. And a lot of speculation was running rampant in post-game talk about how Purdue might be shifting to more mobile QBs in their future, particularly with a new coach coming in next year. Traditionally Purdue QBs are slow white guys that heave the ball down the field 60 times a game. Do I enjoy that? Of course. Would I like to see a change? If it brings wins, you bet your ass.
^Yes, I was definitely pulling for your Boilermakers to take down UM and end their stupid little bowl streak. Nice work with the hook and ladder…that was awesome.
Of course you play the Spartans next so I’d prefer you put a hold on “gaining momentum” until next week. Okay? Thanks.
As for the Spartans, it was pretty darn sweet that they won a game they had NO business winning. They got destroyed by Wisconsin’s run game (280 yards!!), got our own run game totally shut down, dropped about 20 passes (or so it seemed) and yet somehow the defense did JUST enough, Beilema made his usual clock-management mistakes, they got tons of penalties against the Badgers and somehow we were able to win. In past years, that was a guaranteed loss for State and they pulled it out. I getting a new feeling from this team in the last few years and it’s sweet. I don’t think we’re beating Penn State at the end of the year but it’s still a fun season. GO STATE!!
And serious…Texas Tech/Texas had to have been game of the year. That game was awesome. Even with Tech up 19-3 early on, you KNEW Texas would come back and make it a game. What fun.
And if the polls are any indication its that Penn State will be royally screwed if Tech, PSU and Alabama all go undefeated. The weakness of the Big Ten is going to end up killing Penn State if they get left out (even though I personally think they would demolish Alabama). You Penn State guys better pray that Tech gets beat by Okie State or Oklahoma since that’s your best chance.

I believe it has been 4 years since Purdue has beaten a ranked opponent. Something like 15 straight losses.
Usually I adhere to the “If you’ve got 2 quarterbacks you’ve got 0 quarterbacks” theory, but I really like this Siller kid. I like Painter, too, of course. So I’m really wondering what Tiller is going to do.
In any event, let’s keep Ringer in check, play some solid D and move the ball, Boilers!
MSU 31
PUR 34
What was the final score???
One to game #2… ROLL TIDE
After seeing Saturday’s game, I like him too. Seriously, what a difference from the UM game. MSU didn’t even have to try that hard…all they did was focus on stopping the run and then just let Siller and the passing game kill itself. How many bad throws and dropped passes did that team have? Good Lord. And even with that abysmal offense and them constantly giving State good field position, it drove me nuts that we couldn’t put anymore points up. Our QB was NOT good and we could only score 7 points until right before halftime?
And worst of all, why the heck was Tiller doing calling plays right before halftime? They get the ball with 40-seconds or so and no timeouts and just started calling these rinky-dink 5-yard passes which wouldn’t have gotten them anywhere. It was inevitable that one of the Spartans would clue in on it and grab one. Maybe Tiller wanted to get in some “two minute drill” practice with his young QB but they were only losing by 7-0!..it’s not like the game was over…that wasn’t the time to try practicing. If I was a Purdue fan I would have been PISSED since I think that pick basically sealed the game for MSU.
Well, one out of three ain’t bad…oh wait…no it’s not.
Well…you were close on the MSU score anyway.
Anyway, MSU being 9-2 is frickin amazing. You can say what you want about how they’ve done it or who they’ve beaten but considering that our team has been in the gutter ever since Saban left this is a BIG deal for us. Even if we lose to Penn State we end up 9-3 and possibly get a New Year’s Bowl which would be sweet.
By the way, Iowa beating Penn State SUCKS for us. Had they not done that and MSU had beaten an undefeated Penn State team in two weeks, it would have been a three-way tie with MSU, OSU and Penn State for the Big Ten. Since each team would have had one win over one of the other teams, that would have been a tie and the tiebreak would have been which team did NOT play a Division II team on their schedule…that honor would go to MSU. Now if we beat Penn State it’s just us an OSU and they have the win over MSU so they go to the Rose Bowl. Oh well…no fraudulant Big Ten Title for us.
And what a sweet game for Bama. How about LSU doing basically every they need to do to win and then LSU’s crappy QB just KILLS them every time? Couldn’t they just bench that kid? Good Lord…
Either way, Florida fans are VERY happy right now. If they win out, they get Bama in the SEC Title game and if they win that they’re a shoo-in to the National Title game. Of course, no guarantee for Texas Tech who has Oklahoma on the road in two weeks. If they lose, there’s going to be a LOT of pissed-off 1-loss teams who won’t get in the Title game.

I couldn’t figure out why they didn’t take a knee right before halftime, either. I was ecstatic with 7-0. And yeah, if you ARE going to run plays, why not go deep or some trickeration? These 5-yard outs weren’t doing anything.
Ugh.
I’d like to think that the games on the hardwood are going to be more competitive.
Not that I’m a huge Ball State fan (at all, actually), but since they could crash the BCS party, I’m rooting for them to win out.
I can’t wait to see them in a shootout with Central Michigan!
Yeah, I think Purdue will do a LITTLE better in basketball though you always have to watch out for that sophmore slump.
I’m getting pumped for b-ball already. MSU has their first game on Sunday against that powerhouse Idaho. Seriously though, MSU’s schedule is brutal. We could potentially play Maryland, Gonzaga, Okie State and Tennessee in this mini-tourney we’re in. Then we play at Texas, UNC at Ford Field, and Kansas. Even Bradley could be a rough one. Should be a wacky year. I’m hoping Calen Lucas blows up plus we have this new big-man who is highly-touted so I’m excited to see him.
As for Ball State, I always pull for the MAC so I love what they’re doing. I have feeling that if Utah Or Boise State is still undefeated, Ball State is going to get screwed even if they go undefeated. I love their QB too. And you said it…that game against Central will be fun. The Western/Central game a few weeks ago was awesome and it was great to see Western take down Illinois last year. Go MAC West!

OMG OMG OMG!! Michigan lost to Northwestern???
Purdue’s season is catastrophically bad, and this is not how I want to remember Tiller’s last year.
However, if they’re able to beat IU and atone for last year’s loss (if they show Hoeppner’s wife one more time, I’m going to punch the TV) then I will be content. A loss to IU would be devastating for my faith in Purdue football.
Ah yes…pure joy. Losingest UM team in history. BWAHAHAHA. Of course, don’t forget…a majority of UM fans wanted Lloyd Carr fired. Be careful what you wish for. HAHAHAHAHAH.
And Purdue…who knows what to expect from their game against Indiana. Both teams are dreadful. I’ve been making jokes that Indiana needs to hire Hoeppner’s wife as head coach all year since we know that it was ALL because her that they made a bowl game last year.
Of course, thanks for nothing, Illinois…glad you guys manned up and beat OSU for us. Now our only hope is for UM to beat OSU but I can’t possibly cheer for that. Oh well…it’ll be enough of a miracle if MSU wins in Happy Valley.
Stevo
Ball State and Central Michigan tonight! For MAC West supremacy! Most lines I see have BSU favored by 7. Given their potent offense and CMU’s mediocre defense, I think the line should be 10+.
That’s just me, of course.
I heard the Wolverines aren’t going to show up to Columbus this weekend because they can’t make it past Toledo.
laughs uncontrollably
^BWAHAHAHA! I haven’t heard that one yet. Even worse, as an MSU fan I supposedly supposed to hope UM wins because if they beat OSU and MSU beats Penn State, then MSU wins the Big Ten and we get the Rose Bowl bid. But screw that…I can’t pull for UM…here’s to OSU pounding them by 50. That should be a funny game.
And yeah…I’m definitely pumped for Ball State/Central. CMU won last year at Ball State though I suppose this is an improved Ball State team. Should be lotsa fun scoring. No way I would put this game at 10…CMU’s at home and that crowd will be nuts, especially for a night game on National TV.
Stevo
PSU is giving away 14 1/2 this weekend against MSU. I’m going to take it.
I agree that CMU’s crowd will be jacked up. No doubt about it.
I just think that Ball State has too much firepower. CMU might score 30 points, but they’ll give up 42.
My official prediction:
BSU 41
CMU 27
^You could be right…who knows. But they recently won a shootout against Western…no reason they couldn’t again. I’ve seen plenty of both teams so it’s hard to know what to expect. CMU’s performance in the 2nd half against Northern Illinois last week wasn’t too promising.
I’m not sure…I’m worried we may see another MSU/OSU game where a jacked-up Penn State team will just be all over my Spartans right from the start and jump to a 21-0 lead or something. They’ve definitely got the edge on talent.
I would take the HUGE 20 points that OSU is giving to UM. As bad as that game may be, I think UM’s defense will help them out just enough to keep them within 15 for the whole game. Rivalry games are usually closer than you think.
Stevo
^
Exactly. Throw records out the windows in rivalry games. Case in point: Monon Bell game this year. Wabash, ranked #3 in the nation, got spanked AT HOME by Depauw (who was 7-2, but still).
All these games you guys talk of are meaningless compared to Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma. Who are you taking. I think Oklahoma will for sure win this game. Then what do you do? Does Texas take the #2 spot and the winner of the Bama/Florida SEC title game (which will be Florida) play in the title game? Actually Florida might take the #2 spot, but it’s meaningless because either Alabama or Florida will have another loss as they play each other. Will Bama get past Auburn? I’m sure, but you never know. USC have a shot? I don’t think so. What about Oklahoma? Can they get up there? Doubtful.
