Yeah, I’ll make no bones on the fact that poker on TV is possibly one of the most boring and mind-numbing things on television. I’m sorry, but it is. You’re watching people play cards!! Even worse are these so-called celebrities like Hellmuth who are fairly decent at playing cards and are treated like megastars…they’re all a bunch of geeks who somehow didn’t have to work so they were able to play poker nonstop for years and years. Must be nice…
God, it’s SO boring and for a while it almost ruined ESPN Classic and ESPN2 since they stopped playing real sports to show poker. It’ll be a grand day when this silly fad dies down forever.
Even worse is how it started this run of Texas Hold-Em. I like poker somewhat and I’m not bashing anyone who does, but Hold-Em is easily the worst…it’s almost completely random and is about 85% luck and really only requires you follow very basic steps…there’s no skill involved when compared to the other types of poker.
