I used to get into poker when America was being crushed in it’s death-grip about 3-4 years ago. I played a lot, and not coincidentally lost a lot of $.
Now I just can’t watch it on TV anymore. I enjoy playing with my friends, but I don’t really get into it like I used to.

Yeah, I’ll make no bones on the fact that poker on TV is possibly one of the most boring and mind-numbing things on television. I’m sorry, but it is. You’re watching people play cards!! Even worse are these so-called celebrities like Hellmuth who are fairly decent at playing cards and are treated like megastars…they’re all a bunch of geeks who somehow didn’t have to work so they were able to play poker nonstop for years and years. Must be nice…
God, it’s SO boring and for a while it almost ruined ESPN Classic and ESPN2 since they stopped playing real sports to show poker. It’ll be a grand day when this silly fad dies down forever.
Even worse is how it started this run of Texas Hold-Em. I like poker somewhat and I’m not bashing anyone who does, but Hold-Em is easily the worst…it’s almost completely random and is about 85% luck and really only requires you follow very basic steps…there’s no skill involved when compared to the other types of poker.

The show “I Bet You” on MOJO is pretty damn hilarious.
I am pretty sure the main guys are poker plays… Something Laak, and something Esfandi-something.
That Esfandi guy, I think, is a former magician. And Phil Laak is nicknamed the “Unabomber” and is nailing Jennifer Tilly.
Dudes I actually enjoy watching the World Series on ESPN. Although I agree I can go without the non-stop replays on ESPN’s entire family of networks.
I actually don’t really like the poker as much as the characters like Phil Hellmuth. Dude is hilarious. That is just classic how he showed up to the WSOP. He is such an ass it’s amusing to watch him. Nothing better when a guy like Mike the Mouth and Hellmuth end up at the same table. They are just jawjacking non-stop. I actually think it’s pretty entertaining.
My favorite was there was one guy who was reading a book when he played and would basically pass on every hand. That’d be me…just reading a book or playing the DS or something while I annoyingly wait for the perfect hand.

I read that once they get to the final table (in the next few weeks, I think), they’re holding off on playing again until November. I think they should air the final table live, but there’s no way that could work.
I think they did last year’s final table live on a ppv, and thought they were holding off until november this year so that espn’s coverage would coincide with the final table, which would then be live.
Who’s the fat guy who wears the ‘crazy-looking eyes staring at you glasses’? They’re really weird, and he puts them on when he’s trying to bluff someone or stay in for the pot. He won the championship once, and then kicked the shit out of 2 guys who tried to rob him on his way to his hotel room. What’s with all the crazy sunglasses, outfits, and hats these guys wear anyway? Do you have to dress like a total asshole to be good at poker or something? I always root for Howard Lederer’s little sister, but she never wins.
