After reading Miner’s reviews (more like thoughts) on the tour, I’m starting to think he is more of a “casual” fan than anything…14th Roo as the best show??? No McGrupp love???

There was a time when he would fluff the living hell out of everything they played. I mean really bad.
But then someone called him out on it, and the next couple of reviews were rather scathing (can’t remember exactly when the turn happened, but I believe he was very unimpressed with Knoxville, which to me is the best of the tour so far), so now I think he is much more…careful…with his reviews. But I fully agree, no mention of Rift or McGrupp is not a good review/thought process on this show. At the very least mention how much these BUSTOUTS sucked and you hated that they played them. At least there would be a mention of them!
None the less, I think he’s trying to please the masses now, and not going with what his actual thoughts are. I say go back to the fluffing if that’s how you REALLY feel!

I hear ya, same problem happened in the Grateful Dead forums I have been at for years…Someone gets too Fluffy, another Head checks him on said Fluff Review, Peer Pressure sets in, Reviewer now hates every note Jerry plays…

I don’t know. I tell you what though, I love lurking on PT. It’s actually quite amusing. I think you’re spot on, they hate EVERYTHING over there. There is nothing but hatred and spitefullness over there.
That’s why I love this place, no one gives you any shit for your opinions! Its nothing but chili & breeze over here, and there are some very insightful discussions about the actual band that we’re here for!

Dudes/Dudettes, I have read alot of bad reviews about last night shows, specifically from PT and the LivePhish forum deal. I just listened to the Rift, and yeh it wasn’t perfect, but FUCK, I’ve heard ALOT worse. And these guys, although mutants among mere mortals, still flub. And to be honest, I like that, keeps it loose and not overly serious. Wooweee, I can’t wait, only 2 more days. YESSSSS!

One was thinking this morning, and hope someone can confirm or tell me otherwise, but is there a band/artist who receives more criticism from its fan than Phish? Can’t think of one.

Oh, the band that gets more flack is the Grateful Dead…I have been trading for over a decade and they are some of the greatest people ever that I trade with , but get us in a chat or discussion together and it gets HARDCORE CRITICAL…
I think Tom Marshall is/was a member of PT. I know that Trey has at least read it.
It was at one of his solo gigs, in NY I think, and he had mentioned something during his show that he was going to play a new song, and then everyone on Phantasy Tour would write about what a crappy song it was. He then went on about what a bunch of a-holes they are on PT and how they really never have anything nice to say. Blah, blah… so yeah, I know that they are familiar with it.
And to answer your question, no, I don’t think that there is a band out there that gets as much citicism from their fans as Phish does. Sad, really!

panicstream phish is down (might return)…Not banned since Hampton is still up, I don’t think Phish is responsible for taking them down or they would have pulled all the Phish…
anyone notice from the pics at the fox that trey was wearing a hoodie for part of the show…he’s also got nike shoes on…overall a more comfortable look for him
point being: during 2.0 and hiatus(es) he seemed to wear more nice clothes, collared, button up shirts, nicer shoes… his hair was done up every night…etc…etc… and now i’ve noticed on this tour that he’s been wearing t-shirts again, comfortable tenny-shoes…his hair is long and crazy again…
and i truly believe that’s a great sign of his health and at least a tiny bit in helping improved playing. he’s not trying to be something he’s not, no more GQ look…he’s wearing whatever he wants, total comfort.
i know when i play shows, i’ll wear the most comfortable clothes i’ve got. even pajama style pants sometimes. why play in kenneth cole shoes, with a banana republic shirt?? i dunno. maybe there’s no correlation, but i think there is ;D
Well those Hamptons were given away as free mp3 DL. And those other two shows are AUD recordings, so that might explain why they would leave those shows up.
I have noticed this. He does seem to be more comfortably dressed, even though he isn’t wearing straight up goofy stuff like the Grinch shirt. I don’t understand why, but it seemed like the more drugs he did, the nicer he dressed. Most people go the other way. Maybe he was trying to hide how messy he was on the inside by being neat and clean on the outside. Deep shit, huh? :o
On another note, I officially do not give a damn about another word Mr. Miner says. He always makes these comments about how the shows didn’t have enough “improv”. The guy does not seem to know much about music itself. Of course, he is entitled to his opinion, but improv is what Phish does. They don’t play a show without improv. He is just not satisfied unless the show has a bunch of weird, type-2 shit going on.
