6/6/09 - Great Woods - *OFFICIAL THREAD*

^ time wise, or set wise
the sets look nice and packed, but the problem is, there is really no jamming, i mean there is some, but the jim from the other night was like 8 min, i was thinking a nice LONG ass one would be in effect,
but the songs have been quite short time wise

and yea i mean they start at 7:30 and play until like quarter to 11
like a 3 hr show maybe a little less or more on a given night

pretty short compared to years past
i think they are just trying to get their feet wet, with these first shows

^No drugs, too.

^ very very true

which is a good thing, we will have them for years to come because of it

itll get really good soon, they just need to get their tour legs back and we will be in for some SICK shows

just makes the bust out long jams that much sweeter when they hit!! 2nd set tonight was jammed out compared to rest of summer!

^ yea man i just said that on another board, i really dug the 2nd set from tonight
the first set had a few new tunes that im still getting used to, but still enjoy
and then some other old ones i absolutely love

so tonight in my opinion on paper was really good,
we will see when i listen to the SBD
i cant wait

i they are getting tighter and tighter atleast that what my ears tell me! paper is something we ate in highschool, sets are played!!

I was thinking maybe the venue had an 11 o clock curfew or something.

^^ i know sets are played and ive eaten my fair share of paper, liquid, crystal, micro dot and everything else under the sun
but until i hear it for my own ears its still on paper

They WILL save Rocky Top for Knoxville. I see it as the encore that night.

^^ha jus givin you hard time bro, u didn’t listren to the stream? ^ rocky top opener TN

osm=awesome

tonight raged. dont be deterred. more in the AM

^^^no man no stream for me
i would rather just listen to it on SBD
the streams are far from amazing
i wish iclips would do some for free
or phish would stream some again

Agreed! Would much rather have shorter jams if they are tight, unlike some PH, then to have the boys play longer jams that have a considerable amount of flubs in them.

Don’t get me wrong, One would love to hear some long jams, but would choose to listen to these shows over most PH any day (Yes, there are exceptions)

Ok, so I’m listening to this one now…

Stealing Time is a killer song, and makes a great opener. Nothing was great- I really love the lyrics of that song… Page played a really pretty piano solo. GBOTT sounds really good- a whole lot better than it did at Hampton. Really groovy jam.

Just started Golgi… I like the obscure placement in the setlist. I also like the way you can hear the whole audience singing along even on the SBD recording.

more to follow…

GBOTT really threw me off. What’s YEITR stand for in Possum??

Your End Is The Road.

Sorry… didn’t even think about it. We play Back on the Train in my band. We write GBOTT when we’re writing out setlists because it takes up so much less space.

So far this show is awesome! Jibboo had some really good jamming, and as I type, Page is tearing up the piano solo in Taste!

Super-solid second set! Page tore it up on SOAMule, Fluffhead was spot on, -7 really jammed. My only issue is with Heavy Things. I really like the song, but I think it’s one of the few songs in the Phish catalog that is never as good live as on the record. shrug

Anybody know what the guy was getting kicked out for after Contact?
