7.30.03 is seck

I think has become my favorite post-hiatus show to listen to. Not that I listen to many post-hiatus shows, or Phish shows in general nowadays, but this one stands out for me big time. I’m partial to Miami cuz I was there, but this is for sure better.

Easily the sickest first set of the era. Plus meaty versions of Twist and YEM.

07/30/03 - Tweeter Center - Camden, New Jersey

Set 1: My Friend My Friend, Lonesome Cowboy Bill, Scents and Subtle Sounds*, You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere**, Spock’s Brain, Chalkdust Torture***, On Your Way Down, Fast Enough For You, Taste

Set 2: Twist, Bug, You Enjoy Myself, Walls of the Cave

Encore: Secret Smile

    • 25+ minutes; ** - first time played, Bob Dylan cover (includes the lyric “We’ll climb that hill no matter how steep / When we get up to IT”; reports indicate that the performance was closer to the Byrds’ well-known rendition of the song than to Dylan’s original); *** - very adventurous version; Thanks to Erik Swain for the calls.

really?

It was a fun show and all, we ended up skipping the next night to head north to Maine.

The bustouts were fun.

On Your Way Down was deffinately cool.

And the Walls had a good jam.

good stuff

The “Scents” from DC blows this one out of the water, IMO.

this is one of my favorites too, hank

you’re right to like it :sunglasses:

pretty much every show i ever saw them, in the back of my head i was hoping they’d play OYWD. that was the icing on the cake for me. great setlist top to bottom though. 4 song second?!

tits.

ripped ones.

I like this one.

“You Ain’t Goin Nowhere” is one my favorite Phish covers, one-timer or not.

^Agreed

Listening to You Ain’t Goin Nowhere and On Your Way Down last night was what pushed me to start this rather pointless thread. They are played so nicely.

And this Spock’s–>Chalkdust has a “filthy” quality to it that I just love. I don’t even like “Taste” that much, but FEFY–>Taste fits perfectly here, and its a great combo to end the set.

And no way DC SASS is better. No F’n way, imo.

Just gave this show another listen today.

Hadn’t heard it in a while.

Great sunny spring day show.

The weather was nice that day and the trench was dirty for the second set.

Good stuff

I like how some shows project a mental image of a nice, sun-filled summer (or spring) day and others project a dark, nasty, ominous night filled with hail, sleet, thunder, lightning, ice, snow, and flash flooding.

top 3 show of 2003 imho.

12 posts, including this one, and not one ‘newb’ or post-hiatus bashing comment yet…

…must…keep…going…

strains

Well, with the sample size being so small, it makes it easy to pick one best show of post-hiatus. Now do it for pre-hiatus with as much agreement and I’ll be amazed.

Newb.
