Woman Attacked With Acid Released From Hospital

CLEVELAND – A Cleveland woman who had sulfuric acid thrown at her as she got off a bus was released from the hospital Friday.

Synethia May, a 21-year-old Tri-C student, was exiting an RTA bus earlier this month at East 131st Street and Miles when the attack occurred.

She suffered burns over 9 percent of her body. She had to undergo surgery at MetroHealth Medical Center and lost vision in one eye.

Police arrested 28-year-old Eric Warren in connection with the attack, charging him with attempted murder.

Police said the suspect was unknown to the victim.

May released a statement to the media upon her release, thanking God and the medical staff in the MetroHealth burn unit for taking care of her, and thanking everyone for their prayers and support.

“I would like to thank everyone for their prayers. I know there is power in prayer because it lifted me out of the bed onto my feet,” she wrote.

May also expressed her gratitude to the people on the RTA bus who helped her after the attack, especially the driver, whom she credited with saving her life.

She said she is still recovering from her surgeries but is doing much better.

They showed before and after photographs on the news, and it is just disgusting how someone could do this at random.

So, you basically posted this because it has the word acid in it? You really don’t think much of us, do you Will?

Yeah, not quite the trippy thread I was expecting, really.

But really wtf? Someone thought that was a good idea. The human being is a strange & often unreasonably stupid creature.

I kind of posted it to… ummm… ugh.

I don’t know.

Watch out for people on the bus. All of them.

Or in other words “Never trust a prankster”?

Awful. Brings to mind another story of someone dropping a bucket of sulphuric acid off an overpass and it fell thru a windshield on some poor ladies lap. She got burnt terribly.

I was handling a car battery once and a bit leaked on my hands but not before I wiped in on my jeans… which disintegrated over the next few washes.
