A quick question about LivePhish releases...

If you purchase say the MP3’s or FLAC files for a show and they get deleted off your harddrive, can you re-download them for free? It seems like you should be able to, since they have your account information/history on file.

That’s my biggest concern with buying digital files. It seems like once I pay for them I should have access to them whenever I want and from whatever computer I’m using.

Is that the case, or not?

i have that same concern. you have 24 to download usually. if my external hardrive crashes im seriously screwed. ALL of my music collection is on there. a lot of paid for downloads. im thinking of getting a backup for my external.

I think it’s 48 hours.

And to answer your initial question: no. Unless the problem was on their end, you can’t re-download shows after that 48-hour window.

I think.

What I do is DL and listen right away… reDL if needed. I’ve had to reDL a few shows do to packet transfer errors. And yes 48 is all the time they give you once the DL starts. Due to bandwith costs.

That’s pretty weak.

Hard drives crash. I highly suggest burning anything that is important to you on to blank DVDs as data files.

If you bought the actual CDs, and one of them gets scratched… do you go to a store to get a replacement?

Yes and Yes!!! DVD Data files are key…Back-up your Back-up’s!!!

I have 2 1000gig External HD’s and I still back up everything on discs…

Trust me, you will kick yourself if you lose everything!!!

I do.

I waltz in and proclaim “I demand satisfaction!”

You have a point, but we are living in a digital age Will.

On the XBOX 360 you can download games and store them on your hard drive. If you choose to delete the games from your hard drive you can just re-download them at any time. It’s not like it’s costing them any more money to do that.

I think Phish would probably sell a lot more digital music files if you could do that. If you could just download them onto any computer or Ipod at any time once you’ve paid for them. It would be a sound business plan imo.

On second thought, I guess no musicians do that. But why not?

It seems like you’re getting more than what you’re actually paying for based on that logic.

I don’t know why, but it just seems that way.
