Allman Brothers Tour

pretty strong tour in terms of ABB these days…I’m certainly gonna try to catch the ATL and CLT shows, haven’t seen em since spring 2010 and was seriously one of the best shows I’ve ever witnessed (didn’t hurt I was like 6 rows back), who knows how much longer Gregg will be with us…hopefully quite a bit longer, but he’s in rough shape :frowning:

where ya at Little??? :sunglasses:

Here! Might do Hot 'Lanta… This is all news to me.

PNC

Is Santana with them for all these shows?

???

Pretty sure Santana is only with em for a hand full of the NE dates…not all of em

I know Lynard Skynard is opening for Charlotte and I think Holt said moe. was opening in Atlanta.

Lynyrd Skynyrd, and god I didn’t know that…that would be awful

Folks have been talking some shit about the place in ATL, about noize ordinances and curfews and stuff but I think I’m gonna try to make it anyway, I had such a great time at my last ABB tour…although I really didn’t enjoy reading what Gregg said about the Dead and Garcia in his book, haven’t picked it up since I read that page :problem:

Looks like I might be hitting up the charlotte show, not looking forward to the skynyrd crowd but oh well it’ll be interesting to say te least

Also gonna have to get over my bitterness of Gregg’s talk about the dead…fucker

I’m curious as to what Gregg said about the Dead. the PNC show was frigging awesome. Both bands played for about 2 hours with a one song encore. Warren and Derek jammed in Santana’s set to some Coltrane and other stuff. Lots of good music.

They both played one set? or did tABB play two?

Gregg said when he asked Duane what he thought about them at one of their first gigs with them, that Duane turned to him and said “This is shit”…and then something like, “You see that kool aid they’re all drinking little brother, that’s the only reason anyone likes this shit” (I’m paraphrasing a bit there I think, but basically he says the only reason they were anything worth a shit was b/c of acid)…this struck me as a very ignorant thing to say for a “professional musician”, and I just flat out don’t believe that Duane said that…I literally just read about a super jam the Dead had with tABB in Phil’s book the other day, neither Jerry or Duane seem like characters that would jam to music they didn’t like, and yes tABB came up and played Dead music

Gregg seems to use Duane as a scapegoat in his book for anything that could cause a stir with any fans out there, as if it’s like “oh Duane agreed with him on this asshole thing, it’s all good then”…hell I’ve got a rare recording of Duane, Jerry and I believe Weir just jamming in a radio station, Gregg even says Duane and Jerry got along but he claims “it’s just because they were guitarists”…just sounds like bullshit to me, and he’s just being a baby cause Jerry called him a Narc apparently, which he basically admits to be true later in the book apparently

I quit reading after what he said about the Dead, lost a lot of respect for his opinion, he had sort of a little bitch attitude come through throughout the book, and that was just the last straw…maybe I’ll pick it up again in the future, he was a momma’s boy who couldn’t take care of himself, guess he just tried to hide that with the biker tattoos, drugs (especially alcohol), and a superstar girlfriend

Maybe he was at a really weird/“bad” show. I heard Gregg interviewed a month or so ago on Stern, and that fella is pretty fried.

Well the testament is pretty early in the book, definitely late 60s/early 70s…it just seems like such a blanket statement, as if you would not expect them to have ever played with em after that (which obviously wasn’t the case), and it sounds like if Gregg had his way they wouldn’t have…at least that’s how it sounds when he whines about Jerry apparently not liking him much

then I have the ability to go listen to a Franklin’s Tower from an Allman Bros. show in 2010 :unamused: …certainly heard bad things about that Stern interview, though I haven’t heard it

great taste in music

I don’t get it, don’t see how you can say the things he did and feel honest about covering the same fucking band :unamused: …guess it could’ve been more of a request from Warren and Oteil, who knows, apparently he also said in the book that their original bassist Berry only hit one in five notes so guess he’s just a douche

oh well, see ya in Charlotte tonight Greggory

spinner.com/2012/08/01/gregg-allman-memoir/

Gregg’s an old angry grouch…kangfirmed

the dude just wrote the fucking book and the interviewer asks have the Dead grown on you at all- “Um. A little bit. Little bit.”

that’s not even the worse of that dribble bullshit…he seemed pretty miserable at the charlotte show

thought I saw Tony there Jae if yer around, don’t think it was him though
