Alpine Valley Security

^ yes!!! me too. especially if you get there nice and early, a HUGE open field to toss the disc around. quite nice!

also, there used to be a marshmallow war on the lawn if you got in early enough. imagine a glowstick war, where instead of chunky glowsticks it’s only marshmallows. good times…

Its kinda off the subject , but i went to knoxville on wednesday and they were pulling the same stuff with the water bottle caps. I bought a water inside and the lady took the top off and would not give it to me. I asked her why and she said thats just what she was told to do. I dont get it unless they are just trying to ensure you keep buying water from them instead of just refilling the bottle at the water fountain. typical bullshit i guess.

The no cap thing happens in STL too. It’s so when you spill your water you have to get a new one. It’s all about money

^ It could also be that people just throw the caps on the ground when they are done with the water, so why not just make sure at least the caps are going in the garbage?

Good point

It’s No Joke, what others have said about the Nazi-like presence of Undercover Police at Alpine Valley is quite True. The Walworth County Sheriffs Department have a mobile arrest / booking RV, that is huge. They have powered mobile generators with cameras up on 20 to 30’ tall poles in multiple places. They walk around wearing tye-dye T-Shirts, plain clothes, and they swoop out of nowhere.

They are looking to make money, that is their goal. Taxation without representation. The citations they give for pot and other type of drugs run over $400 I’ve heard. Two people I was parked next to got popped smoking sitting in their car right before going to the show. They were booked, processed, ticketed/charged, and released. They didn’t even handcuff them or anything, was weird and quiet. The first officer to run up to their window was wearing a tye-dye. There was a big tattooed officer, a woman officer, and two others.

The cops are looking for people sitting in their cars, with doors and windows closed. I read some legal briefs filed from people invoking Fourth Amendment Rights (unreasonable search and seizure / warrant-less arrest).

This link discusses how a person was arrested at Phish in Alpine, in 2004, based on the officer viewing a cigarette being smoked and a wad of Kleenex which the person said was candy and tried to hide. Based on that evidence alone, the officer assumed the person had drugs, searched them and the car, and arrested them. What really sucks, is the defendant later died. Sounds like dude had some hard drugs, ketamine or something. Regardless, cigarettes and kleenex are not probable cause, and the official decision over-turned the conviction, based on 4th Amendment Rights.

Defendant argues that the circuit court erred in denying his motion to suppress evidence resulting from the arresting officer’s warrantless search of his person. Defendant contends that the search violated his Fourth Amendment rights because the officer did not have probable cause to arrest him for the drug-related offense prior to the search. We agree and reverse and remand for proceedings consistent with this opinion.

The Undercover Police wander in packs. They actively hunt down the Nitrous Mafia, and treat even the most minimal marijuana use, sale, or sharing to be a legal offense.

By stark comparison, Deer Creek last year (and Toyota this year) were beautiful, serene, friendly, amazing lot scenes.

all you need to know - i’ve never been hassled in a lot, or inside a venue at the show, by law enforcement or security (and i’m into some SERIOUSLY fucked up sh!t )

  1. be observant

  2. don’t be an idiot

  3. repeat

edit: in light of last night’s monster debut… golden rule that overrules all else: instant karma is real, believe it and practice it regularly. it increases everyone around you’s happy points 10 fold

call me cheesy, i don’t care at all, it’s an indisputable fact

edit 2: i love unicorns

.

last year i got a clif bar confiscated on my way into the venue.

it was weak.

the venue itself is fine if you get a decent spot. first set first night last year we didn’t realize it and wound up on a bump on the hill where we couldn’t see anything and could barely hear.

But then we moved and it was awesome.

another reason for not allowing caps: if you fill up your bottle of water and cap it, you now have a very heavy object that you can hurl.

venues everywhere are not allowing bottle caps. as noted above, if you fill it and put the cap back you can make a heavy missile object. also, if you spill your water you can go pay $8 for another one if you don’t have a cap on it… :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

fwiw, i took backpacks full of beer in last year with no problem. just wait until 7:30 to go in to the venue. they won’t search you if there is a huge line of people.

^CAUTION: he’s not lying but that’s also not always true.

it really just depends on who you get. My friends walked in untouched but i was in the line next to them handled by some d-bag on a power trip.

rule of thumb: if the lot your in is at alpine valley, DO NOT WORK THIS LOT! feds with dreads man (feds with dreads)
