American Masters - Les Paul

Did anyone else catch this program on PBS the other night?

Wow. What a fantastic show and if you see that its on again watch it. Even if you don’t play guitar.

I thought I knew about this guy but I knew nothing.
He really is a genius.

Invented the solid body guitar AND multi-track recording!?
Unbelievable.

Music would not be the same, not even close without this guy.
Anyway, that’s it, I just can’t stop thinking about this show.

Really good music on the show and some of the greatest musicans and producers pretty much saying that he is the greatest.

He’s 90 and still plays a regular gig in NYC every Monday night!
Crazy.

strange i’ve never owned a Les Paul, nor a Strat. the absolute standards, the meat and potatoes of guitars and i always went for weirdies like Rickenbackers and Gretsches. which is like, the broccoli salad and green bean casserole of guitars.

^^Yes, every Monday night. Anyone who’s up in New York needs to go see him play. Every Monday, at the little bar underneath the Empire Hotel. Which is directly across the street from the Lincoln Center.

I didn’t get to catch the PBS Special but my girlfriend was telling me about it. I’m definitely going to have to watch that.

Charlie Jack, nothing weird about Rics and Gretsches, Beatle guitars, Beatle guitars.

Don’t forget the Les Paulverizer too.

He is really an American genius.

think of duane allman without his les paul…

indeed. ;D
