From what I understand, shit like this happens pretty often. But I bet now that the spill happened you’re gonna be hearing about every tiny little incident that happens from now on. They said no oil was even spilled in this incident.
I’ll tell you all what they said on the local news. Apparently, the explosion was well-monitered, and there was very little damage done from say 3-7 miles outside of the perimeters of the rig. Which seems plausible, but there is also so much built up already from the damage done all summer long that no one really seems to care about the phrase “little to no clean up” anymore.
Honestly, this is just another example of their idiocracy.
I wouldn’t have said it if I hadn’t actually read it somewhere. That was what they said on the news shortly after the spill happened, so it must have been before they knew all the information or something. I didn’t just pull that out of my ass. In any case, from what I understand, this is a fairly common thing. What happened this past summer with the huge disaster was and is a tragedy, but an accident like this one that just happened is a normal spill that will have an easy clean-up. Nothing to freak out about.
