Any audiophiles here?

or are we all?

I’m looking at buying my first separates system. Part of me wants to splash out, the other part thinks that the money could be better spent on something else, if at all.

I’m eyeing up a NAD C320BEE Amp and a pair of B&W 601 s1 speakers but can’t bite the bullet.

opinions, thoughts, share your own setups?

what fuck you tok about bwah?

Always go with separates. They are better made and if tehy go wrong, you only have to replace one item, not the whole system.

These days you can get pretty decent separates for a very reasonable price. Here in UK we have a chain called Richer Sounds that sell great stuff quite cheap. I have no recommendation for models and/or makes but getting a good hi-fi mag should help. There’s no reason why you can’t get a fantastic sounding system for under USD500.

I am personally using a technics turntable, amp and speakers that my dad bought in the 70s. Still going strong and augmented with a CD player that was less than UKP100.

I’m in the UK so I know of richer sounds  I’ve actually been using AVforums for some advice, you might be familiar with them? I hardly ever play cd’s these days, most of my music comes from my computer or mp3 player so only really need an amp and speakers at the moment. it’s quite an investment at first but as you know they seem to last a long time.
