Over the weekend, I finished up Aquaria which is an independent game for PC that you can get on their site for 20 bucks or so. It’s an action game in an underwater world where this gal kind of discovers the underwater world around her…kind of plays like an underwater Metroid. It’s an excellent game. The music is gorgeous, the environments are gorgeous, even the gal’s voice-acting is gorgeous. I can’t recommend it enough.
Even funnier, it inspired me to play the original Metroid for the NES. What surprises me is how when I play these games from childhood, I’m surprised at how short they are when I remember them being longer. I breezed through the game and even parts that I remember as being long and difficult weren’t that bad at all. Very strange. I had the same thing happen when I played Zelda: Link to the Past and then breezed through it over the course of one Saturday.
I think I’ll try out this RPG called Rogue Galaxy for the PS2. It’s the last of my huge pile of games that I bought a year ago (I kept buying new games before I beat the current ones so I banned myself from buying new games until I did finish it). I’ve heard the plot is cliched but the game is fun to play so that’s good enough for me. After this, I may splurge on a PS3.
(And I hope to god they handle that well.)
