Any gamers up in this piece?

OK, I finished COD3, fun game all around. I’m tempted to get pwned in the online battles of MW2 or BC2, but we shall see.

I started to play Battlefield 2 Modern Combat… and it was effing terrible.

will, if you decide to play, send me an invite. i’m gonna be looking for some peeps to party up with this weekend. it is double xp weekend for mw2 so if you wanna get a bunch of unlocks without having to do too much work, it is a good weekend to play (even though it is memorial day weekend, etc.)

Well, I’m playing the Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks for the DS right now. Pretty much what I expected. It’s super-easy except for a few small parts but it’s still that same Zelda formula with dungeons and sidequests that I love.

Problem is it’s kind of short. Or maybe it’s because I’m now jobless and have more time to play so I’m playing the game like mad…that could be it. Still, only four main dungeons is kind of short for a Zelda game.

Anyway, I hit the store to pick up my next game. I looked at a few DS games like Mario & Luigi 3 or that new “Kingdom hearts 364/6Days” game but none were getting me that excited. Then I wandered to the PS3 section and looked at all the games I wanted to get and said “screw it” and decided I’d get a PS3 finally…especially since I’d be playing more games without a job. It turns out that 120GB ones for $300 are sold out at basically every store in the area. But one store had a few of the 240GB ones for $350. It’s only $50 more so I figured I’d do it plus I’d have the extra memory if I ever get heavy into the online stuff. I also bought used copies of Metal Gear Solid 4 and Bioshock for cheap though I wanted to get either GTA4 or the first PS3 Ratchet and Clank game but neither were there. It also turns out that the console itself came with Infamous and Little Big Planet so I’ll probably try those out too. I’ll be diving into MGS4 first…I gotta finally see how that whole saga finished up.

Yup…I’m finally moving into this decade.

You’re gonna love MGS4…in retrospect it’s not the best MGS game, but still, you’ll love it. Pick up inFamous, the Uncharted games and LittleBigPlanet too. You’re in for some mighty fine gaming my friend.

I’m really debating buying a PSP just so I can play MGS: Peacewalker, but it is seriously the only game on that system I want to play, and I just bought a decent laptop which I might be able to play some alright PC games on, so money is definitely an issue as well. There are way more games I want to play on the DS, but I don’t want any of them as much as I want Peacewalker. Plus I’d love to get a Wii. Why can’t they just give us the consoles for free and make their money off of games or subscriptions or something?

psn: streetbum87 - only have ac2 :frowning:
xbox: streetbum87

whats a good 2 player co/op game for the ps3. been wanting to get a new game and controller for when my buds come over.
stevo 250gb…damn mines a measly 40gb.
should be picking up shutter island bluray tonight…movie worth it?

^ Uncharted 2 has really awesome 3 player co-op, but I think it might be online only. For some good couch co-op get Little Big Planet. My girlfriend actually played that whole campaign with me, and that’s crazy because she hates teh vidja games. It has tons of user made levels as well and you can even work co-operatively with your friends to create levels. Another game that is kind of like that is Mod Nation Racers, but I haven’t actually tried it yet, so I can’t recommend it.

Also given that Steveo doesn’t actually have any internets at home, I doubt if he’s hooked up to PSN, which is unfortunate because he’s missing out on lots of firmware updates and of course the online gaming revolution.

do the firmware updates just bam pop up when you turn it on? i know it just popped up and took like a half hour to update when i first set it up online.

oh also, beat Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. very fun game, has co-op and would be fun online if you had 2-3 buds to play with. but wolverine is 100% over powered. low damage taken, high damage delivered, health regen. a staple to every team. sent it back. hopefully alan wake will be on its way.

^ The PS3 will show a message at the top of the screen when you need a firmware update. Then you scroll all the way to the left and select “System Update”. Many games require updates (to patch glitches, etc) too which you can’t get without a internet connection. By “require” I just mean you can’t play those games online without patching the game, which isn’t a big deal if you don’t have an internet connection to begin with.

so i went out and bought a new dualshock controller, the one that came with the ps3 wasnt shockable, picked up resistance and mag. started playing a little bit of resistance bout 15 min last night. but other than that, nothing. the little lady has work from 5 till late tonight, i got an 1/8, and some hash…should be a good gaming night.

as much i love my fiancee and spending time with her, i live for these sorts of nights.

Its that alone peace and quite down time

Yessir, I can’t wait. All I’ve done so far is set up the PS3 but I haven’t tried playing anything…I’m not sure how to open it since I hit the arrow button on it and it beeps at me. Let’s just say I’ll be reading the instructions before I touch this thing. And I’m still unsure…is this controller wireless? It has me plug it in to connect to the PS3 but i haven’t gotten beyond that. Maybe I should just get to those instructions…

And yeah, i’m pumped for MGS4. I wasn’t as big a fan of MGS2 but I think MGS3 kind of “saved” the series from being this all-cinema series like it seemed in MGS2. Plus I heard the female bosses in MGS4 are pretty wicked. And I already have Infamous and Little Big Planet so I’ll be playing them eventually. I doubt I’ll get into the level creation with LBP though…it’s just not my thing. And yes, Uncharted is on the list too…but it’s a long list…it may have to wait. GTA4, God of War 3, Darksiders, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Batman Arkham, both Ratchet and Clank games, Brutal Legend, FF13, maybe Prince of Persia, maybe Bayonetta, maybe Devil May Cry 4…they’re all on the list eventually.

I’m the same way where there’s a few games I want to play for PSP (Daxter, God of War, new Kingdom hearts) but it’s not enough to warrant the purchase of one.

Now, here’s a question I wonder. If a developer releases a patch from a game do I need to connect the PS3 itself? Could I go to their website, maybe download the patch onto a flash disc and then plug it into one of those USB ports of the PS3? Or maybe connect the thing to my PC and then run to the patch in through there? There’s that and there’s certainly a few PSN games I’ll want to try, especially those new old school Mega Man games that they’re bringing out.

its probably just beeping cuz there is no disc in there, it doesnt open. just acts like a car cd player, a little slit…in and out  and yes it is wireless. the cord is to charge your controller.

not to sure about the patch downloading though. still a noob myself on this.

All PS3 controllers are wireless, but you do need to plug them to the PS3 or any USB port to charge them up. And you just slide the disc in and press the button to eject but there is no tray that slides out.

All I can tell you is that Brutal Legend isn’t really that great. I haven’t played Darksiders or 3D Dot Game Heroes yet, but those are definitely on my must-play list too. Don’t bother with the 2008 PoP either, you’d be much better off trying out Assassins Creed 2. Bayonetta fucking rocks! It makes DMC4 seem horribly broken and unbalanced. But really, bump the Uncharted games right up to the top of your list…they are two of the best games this gen, period.

Also you should check out Fallout 3 if you get a chance. I really love that game to pieces.

I think you can log into PSN on any PC and download patches through that website then install them on your hard drive via a USB drive or portable hard drive. I’ve never done it myself, but it’s my understanding that it is possible.

Holy Shit! Rock Band 3!

giantbomb.com/news/rock-band … sion/2103/

Easily the most realistic music game ever. Keyboard, guitar with 6 strings and 6 buttons per fret. Now I just hope they let us play any song on our harddrive in this game. Imagine using this game to actually learn how to play YEM properly on the keys. Hopefully this works.

So… LIVE sports on the xbox360!!

That makes not having cable so much easier.

Red Dead Redemption!

Rockstar Games is so awesome.
First: Grand Theft Auto, now this?

Nintendo also just announced they will be releasing a new Donkey Kong for Wii @ E3
Nice.

^ Yeah…it’s great, but it keeps freezing on my after this one mission really late in the game. Based on what I’ve read on the internet I may have to start all over again or from a much earlier save point, which sucks because the game only allows you to have 3 save points, so if I don’t have an early enough one I have to start again. The story is just great though, and the scenery…it feels just liking riding through the old west.

The new 360 looks really pimp and comes decked out with Wifi and a 250 Gig HDD. I’ll be picking one up for sure.

First things first though I’m getting a Wii this weekend! I just really want to play Super Mario Galaxy 2, and it looks like they’ve got some really good games coming out; Metroid other M, Donkey Kong Country Returns and the NEW ZELDA!

NEW ZELDA :open_mouth: , and DK. hell yeah, dude if your getting a wii. MARIO PARTY + beer + friends + greenery = best night ever! DO IT! even just amy and i we got on it last night. game is sooo fun. and that xbox looks sick…but $$$$$ :frowning:

Yes, Mario Party is without a doubt the best part of the Wii. Great times.
