Any gamers up in this piece?

^ There is no way in hell I’m ever going to play through Nier three times. I’m struggling to maintain interest through my first playthrough. It’s a good game, but man, some parts are so boring. There are like a million fetch quests, and while most of them aren’t mandatory, you’re gonna want to do them if you’re any kind of a completionist or just want to have a reasonably leveled up character by the time the combat starts getting tougher.

It’s just the NPC’s are so boring that I have no interest in helping them get 10 pieces of mutton or whatever kind of crap they are asking me to do. The story parts are good…probably some of the best story stuff that Square Enix has done in a long time, but, like every Square game you have to put up with some pretty mundane stuff to get to those parts.

Assassins Creed Brotherhood, and Portal 2… purchased.

Grabbed a bunch of games on sale today…which I really shouldn’t have, but I haven’t seen price drops on any of these games.

Got Mortal Kombat, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, and Dead Space 2 Collectors Edition. All 360 versions. Paid about $100 for all three which is really good. Now…I’ve just got to clean up my backlog of games so I can get to playing those one day.

Sony continues to get hacked…12th time this year…wow, they opened up a hornets nest I suppose… :wtf:

Did you see? Did you see? New Nintendo console! Wii U

giantbomb.com/news/nintendo- … ment/3344/

Even though I could count on one hand the number of Wii games I’ve played, I can’t help but get excited like a kid on christmas day every time Nintendo announces something new…and this is totally something new.

I have no idea how prohibitively expensive this thing is going to be at launch, but I can’t wait to get my hands on one. You can watch the whole Nintendo E3 Press conference on G4TV.com or Gametrailers.com and watch some of the tech demos they showed, but you can also just read about it above.

Hahaha, that’s funny - you like them because they have become steadily less and less “assassin” games, and that’s the same reason I find myself losing interest - because I signed on to be a master assassin, dammit!

That’s exactly what I was getting at earlier. LA Noire is such a great game, but in the end it’s just too much of the same formula, case after case after case. The Homicide desk alone takes forever. I loved the story, but the game lets too much time go by without anything significant happening with the main characters and the primary narrative. By the time you’re doing Vice cases, it picks up a bit, but damn.

BTW, dunno if you guys watch Yahtzee’s reviews at Zero Punctuation, but the LA Noire one was fucking spot-on and hilarious as all hell: escapistmagazine.com/videos/ … -L-A-Noire

Started portal2 co-op. Awesome.

the Wii U? Are they PURPOSELY trying to rhyme it with the phrase “PeeYoo”? Oh well…if the console stinks, at least the writers have a nice title for their review. I’ll probably wait until the magazine start pumping out reviews of it…they always get more in depth with it. I heard a big part of it is trying to catch up on the graphics side of things.

Still playing Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix. Getting near the end but I doubt I’ll be done soon…there’s a lot of super-tough bosses they stick near the end so I may be grinding/leveling to get to those guys.

I finished LA Noire last night. At least all the assigned cases and story arc.
I still got some street crimes to finish.
I enjoyed playing this game very much. I found all the landmarks & badges too.
Still have some cars and movie reels to find though. And will probably DL some extra content and cases.
I really hope they keep making games like this. At least this format of open space and much more detailed characters and stories,…instead of just shooting up everything.

Now back to finish Red Dead Redemption

I’m still on the fence on LA Noir…it’s gotta get cheaper either way. Not that I wouldn’t want to play it but there are so many other games I want to play. Just saw that Witcher 2 and Infamous 2 got some good reviews…I liked the first game in both series.

Currently re-playing Paper Mario: 1000 Year Door. Really an excellent game which I’d only played once before so I had to pick it up again. Enjoying the hell out of it.

Well, after my Paper Mario experience, I just finished up God of War 3. Can’t say enough about these games and the series…they’re awesome rollercoaster rides and the third one is no different. If you have a Playstation and like action games and haven’t played these, you’re missing out. Beat it on Hard mode first and then got my butt kicked by Very Hard mode until I eventually finished that.

Not much left for me to do in that one so I just started Assassin’s Creed 2. I haven’t done a whole lot as I spent some time exploring the first town area in Florence and pickpocketing or getting into fights and stuff. I see they still have these extended segments with the Desmond character who I don’t entirely care about but I try to keep an open mind. Just saw the start where you’re introduced to the whole gang of folks rebelling against the Templars…I didn’t see Scooby Doo or Shaggy in those scenes so maybe they show up later.

I absolutely loved L.A. Noire! For me, it brought back memories of the first three Police Quest games by Sierra. I would have liked to have seen a bit more depth to the cases however. Things like the world around you changing in accordance with the good or bad choices you may have made. It was definitely one of the more interesting games I’ve played in a while, more of a thinking man’s game.

I recently completed The Witcher 2 - a game which I have been eagerly anticipating since playing the first one a couple of years ago. In my opinion, this is how an RPG should be made. It looks gorgeous but there’s far more to it than just pretty graphics. Plenty to do, see and again lots of choices to make. Plus, I feel like an absolute badass when I step into Geralt’s shoes.

At the moment I am playing a great little (or should I say massive) game called Terraria. I can only describe it as an exploration-meets-building-meets-RPG-meets-adventure game. It really has to be played to be fully appreciated. At first, it takes you back with its simple but charming 2D graphics and cute soundtrack but stick with it and you’ll find a huge, challenging and plain old-school-fun game.

:ugeek:

My library now carries vidja games.

:wtf:

Awesome! A fellow Witcher fan. I played the first one (it’s one of the few newer PC games without any DRM software so you don’t need internet for it) and I enjoyed it a lot. Haven’t gotten the second but it’s on the list. I loved the first but there were a few minor gripes I had about how they recyled too many of the NPC characters (same old granny model is used for every old granny) and at times the animation was a little stiff and some of fetch quests got a little repetitive. Plus it was a little too easy but I read that the 2nd is much tougher which sounds great. Reading glowing revies on the second makes me think that they likely improved a lot of the small issues with the first. Can’t wait to get to it. Plus I’ve got some Polish descent in me so I get a kick out of supporting a Polish game developer.

And holy crap…Clete is alive!

Assasin’s Creed 2 is already looking better in my eyes. I’m only in the first area and environments are much more varied and I kind of like that the areas seem smaller compared to the first…not as much wasted space is a good thing. Plus the missions have been fairly creative so far which is nice. Plus I love pick-pocketing people…I got the Kleptomanic trophy after maybe the third mission.

Anyone here play some Tiger Woods/Masters?

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

hangs head in shame and continues nerdy golf game :ugeek:

^Aww…I like Tiger Woods…we played it a ton in college on many drunken nights and I still dust off my old copy once in a while. I haven’t bought an updated one in years though…

Any NCAA 2012 fans out there?

Gonna pick up my copy when I get home from my honeymoon.
Let me know. I’d love to play online with anyone.

GO IRISH!

I’m starting back up on Black Ops… and boy am I rusty.

Been horsing around with MLB 2K10 (Wii) for the past six months so I decided to buy the current version 2K11. How a software can get worse, I have no idea. It’s really so loaded with flaws that I have a good mind to send it back to Amazon for a refund. But it was only 25 bucks without shipping and the hassle of sending it back just doesn’t seem worth it.

Just damed disappointing since I thought that they would have tightened up the errors in 2K10, but instead they created a worse product.

^Yeah, those short game cycles make for some strange glitches in some of these games. Or they focus way too much on improving one thing and neglect or get rid of something people liked.

I just finished Assassin’s Creed 2 last night and I gotta say it’s a BIG improvement over AC1 what with having things like creative missions, interesting characters and somewhat creative landscapes to jump through plus some much-less-tedious sidequests. Also liked being able to improve your villa and stuff and having lots of uses of your money. Also I liked there being much less of the Desmond segments…only a beginning, middle and ending rather than getting a useless Desmond segment every two or three kills like in AC1. But hey, I’ve already said the Desmond part is weak but the stuff with Ezio is done nicely. I’m certainly sold on getting Brotherhood.

Starting up the third Phoenix Wright game now…Trials and Tribulations. Always a nice break from the action stuff.

Also excited that they’re releasing the God of War PSP games out on PS3. That’s two less reasons for me to get a PSP so it’s down to maybe two or three games I want for it. Not so good, PSP.
