Any love for the 8.12.04 YEM?

Honestly, this ranks up there with some of the best YEMs I’ve heard. Trey flubs the beginning a little bit, but the jam is so sick.

yea its definetlty up there. when i heard it I thought it’d be the last yem ever

It is pretty damn good. Its weird, because at that show I was sort of in a bad mood (if you think thats possible), and didn’t think highly of the show at all. I still don’t like the second set like some people do, but this first set is definitely good. Pretty sweet friggin setlist and some good playing. I also don’t think the maze>catapult>maze was as amazing as some people think

I think the whole show was great. I love being at that venue and I thought they were definitely solid throughout. Stuff like Julius and Moma Dance were the highlights of that show, and anything else that they didn’t play the next night at Coventry. I liked it better than the Coventry YEM for sure.

wow, im glad you posted this thread. I was moderately dosed 3 rows from the band this entire show, and this version of YEM kicked ASS. It was so unexpected, right after the wilson opener. Very interesting segue into ghost as well, which turned out to be almost if not as good as the ghost from saratoga earlier that summer. just a great show in general.

Since I didn’t even try to go to Coventry, the Camden YEM was closure for me. I really didn’t need to hear anything more from Phish after that.

what agreat show…and unfortunately my only one…

but of course im gunna say it was a great show, cuz even though i hav a bunch of recordings, its the onlyone that i actually experienced…

how would everyone else who was ther, and had seen teh band a lot before, compare/rate the 8-12-04 show?

I had come to love the Yem’s with no vocal jam in the later years for obvious reason’s. This was another instance where the first set kicked the second’s ass. Take out that aweful LimbxLimb and Julius and this one would have been epic for post-hiatus.

Yeah, the song selection in the second set after sneakin sally just didn’t do it for me. EVerything up to then was definitely solid. I remember the cavern being pretty sloppy, and then limb and julius were just two songs I didn’t want to hear that night. I feel stupid complaining about the show not being completely awesome, but it is the way I feel about it. I’m glad I went from Boston to Camden and back up to VErmont, but Camden is simply the worst place on the face of this Earth

One of my favourite POST HIATUS shows for sure. The Moma Dance is incredible and flowing. And the YEM, although flubbed TOTALLY at the beginning, makes up for it in the jams.

I actually have this as TESTAMENT to the last Phish show. Coventry is NOT in my collection and never will be. If they never play again (which is unlikely), this NJ show will easily rank high…

^Feel the same way about the Coventry music, and the unlikelihood of their never playing together again.

^^ Camden was pretty appropriate for the last regular Phish show, as every phan’s journey to hell.

I loved this show. It was the most fun I had that whole week (which consisted of 2 Dead shows at Camden, Phish at Camden, and then Coventry). My only regret is not taking my other opportunities to see Phish at the tweeter when my brother would go. I was but a naive child.

This YEM could be from any year imo, jams pretty hard and very enjoyable. Great first set… I dig how the Pebbles was a request from the audience and love the “my friend” tease just before the SASS. Great last show! Don’t really know what to call Coventry… not for me to call it anything I suppose.

Anyone else notice that right after the Wilson opener, Trey signals a Limb By Limb with his guitar, but something or someone changes his mind, and they go with this YEM?

Who knows, maybe the only reason we got this version was that Fishman was clearing his throat, “Ahem” and Trey mistook this as a call for “AYem”. ;D

I enjoyed hearing Pebbles and Marbles that night, its probably my favorite post-hiatus song. I never thought about that being a my friend my friend tease right there, and now I do realize that he does tease my friend my friend. And now I’m really upset cause I definitely would rather have heard My Friend My Friend.

I mean, Scents and Subtle Sounds is alright, but I can’t believe they closed that show with a 22 minute version of it, I can think of hundreds of songs I’d rather hear.

I thought the scents and subtle sounds ending, although not the best ending song was still kind of magical they way the played it out.

I’m not sure what to think about the way that set ended. It was significant musically. I’ve heard some people say it was magical and perfect for the moment, but more people have opined that they would rather have heard something else.

How about My Friend My Friend>I didn’t Know, McGrupp to end the set. That would’ve been sweet

^ yea well you cant win em all
I think that it was a great way to end the set, especially after some rather uninspiring tunes earlier in the set. that jam rocked!!

A little sloppy at the beginning, but they get through it nad turns out to be pretty good, wouldn’t go as far as best ever though.

I haven’t heard this version, but I wanted to feel special too…
