Anyone Heard of ICE?

Here’s something I just received in an inter-office broadcast Email. Seems like a good idea, so I’m passing it on.

We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.

If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn’t know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this “ICE” (In Case of Emergency) Campaign

The concept of “ICE” is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name “ICE” ( In Case Of Emergency).

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn’t know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as “ICE.”

For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference!

Let’s spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today!

Please forward this. It won’t take too many “forwards” before everybody will know about this It really could save your life, or put a loved one’s mind at rest .

ICE will speak for you when you are not able to.

good idea

Hmmm…I don’t have a cell phone, but if I saw someone lying on the street and for some reason I thought to check their cell phone and I saw a contact for ICE, I would probably assume it’s a meth induced overdose and leave them lying there.

I was just introduced to this idea last year.

It’s great that you brought this up Fone.

Do it!

scuse me?

I don’t either. I think I’m the last person under the age of 30 who doesn’t have one. I think it’s just a fad that will pass over. ;D Fight the power, Goldenroad!!!

The fact is, it would be nice to be able to get ahold of people whenever I want from where ever I want, but I don’t want people to be able to get ahold of me whenever they want, where ever I am.

So don’t pick up.

Land lines are for suckas.

I probably ignore 75% of the calls I get on my cell phone.

That’s just how I roll.

Um… caller id?

It works.

ICE?

thats my dads old company…Interactive Computer Engineering…ICE.

just thought id share.

one time i was riding my bike down the street innocently with a backpack on and some douche with a dumb girl in the front seat pulled over and stopped me and asked me if I “knew where a person could score some ICE in this town”

i’m still not positive on what he meant.

i’ve never heard such a term on Shakedown Street so i don’t know.

You should have said the 7-11 around the corner has 7 lb bags for $1.69.

^^isnt ice meth?

you tell me DEEEEETROIT

oh no you dint.

I didn’t know that Detroit was a meth town? I mean, I’m sure they have every drug, but isn’t Detroit more of a drinking town? Actually, I’m not sure WHAT we do around here…no one has any money anyway…

What if I don’t know the phone number? Plus, what do you guys pay for your cell phones, between actually buying the phone and your monthly fees? I pay $25 a month for my landline. That may be high, but no roaming charges, long distance is cheap, and I never have to charge up my phone. Maybe I’m crazy, but I just have never felt the need to own a cell phone. I’ve never been anywhere where I needed access to a phone, but couldn’t find one within about 5 minutes. I know my car could break down on the highway, but luckily everyone that drives by probably has a cell phone anyway.

And what if nobody stops? What if it’s the middle of the night, and there’s nobody on the road? What if a thousand others things happened just so it would make your life a thousand times more convenient to have one? It’s so nice to be able to have contact with people that are miles away from you anywhere you are, if only for emergencies. What’s more, even if you want to just use it for emergencies, you can just get a pay as you go plan cheap, and just buy the minutes you use. Either way, cell phones are most definitely not a fad, as El Bastarde put it.

You better start swimming
Or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a changin’.
