I dont know if anyone here would be interested but a Live Woodie Guthrie Record has just surfaced from the Woodie Guthrie Archive. I love it and I am going to sick all of you on to it so I can get a copy!!

I like Woodie. I like Arlo a lot better, though. My friend loves Arlo so much she named her son Arlo Quinn.

Chorus:
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California, to the New York Island
From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me

As I was walking a ribbon of highway
I saw above me an endless skyway
I saw below me a golden valley
This land was made for you and me

Chorus

I’ve roamed and rambled and I’ve followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
And all around me a voice was sounding
This land was made for you and me

Chorus

The sun comes shining as I was strolling
The wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling
The fog was lifting a voice come chanting
This land was made for you and me

Chorus

As I was walkin’ - I saw a sign there
And that sign said - no tress passin’
But on the other side … it didn’t say nothin!
Now that side was made for you and me!

Chorus

In the squares of the city - In the shadow of the steeple
Near the relief office - I see my people
And some are grumblin’ and some are wonderin’
If this land’s still made for you and me.

Chorus (2x)

LOVE Woodie.

There was a great PBS special on about him last year.
I think it was part of the American Masters series.

Anyway, if you get a chance be sure to check it out.
That guy saw and sang it all.

I love what he had written on his guitar.

This Machine Kills Fascists

I saw Arlo and family earlier this year and at the end of the show he explained that they had found this lost live recording of Woody and he talked about hearing it for the first time. Arlo, as you might know, was only a small toddler when his dad stopped playing and was committed to the hospital so he never really knew what he sounded like live. When somebody played the recording for him he heard his father start talking and rambling on about whatever for 10-15 minutes at a time and Arlo said to himself “Oh…my…god. Just when you think you’re an original and doing something new you find out your just turning into your parents.”

and then they played “This Land Is Your Land”

and it was awesome.

^^^^HAHAH, dont you love it!@!
