I am thinking of learning to play the banjo. I love the sound of the banjo and bluegrass music. I need some advice, what’s a good banjo to get? New? Used? Brands? Can I buy a cheap one for like around $100-$200 to start out on?
Also, is it like playing a guitar or harder? What’s the difference between a 5 string and a 6 string banjo??

i’ve played the banjo, don’t own one, but i can play it, as well as most things with strings, may take me a little bit to get the hang of it, but if you know strings you know strings
do you know strings?
if not, you may want to start with a guitar or something, i just think the banjo is a bit more difficult to get good on as fast as the guitar

I think you need to be born in Appalachia to be qualified to play the banjo… then only after years of marrying your cousins and fighting with your cousin-in-laws are you allowed to accept the family banjo from cousin Billy-bob.
