^I hear you there. I got a chance to catch him in his new offense against KC last week and it was pretty remarkable. It was absolutely baffling when he threw that bomb to Decker to basically win the game and it was only his second completion of the game. It’s also very refreshing to see a coach in John Fox to actually cater his system to his players…there’s far too many who have a system and make their players conform to him. Nice work by him.
Either way, you’d think this SHOULDN’T work but KC was a pretty good defense and they ran all over them. If they do it against the Jets…wow…I’m majorly pumped for this game. It’s impossible to cheer against Tebow.
the Kitties have climbed ahead of the pack as the team I cheer againstthe most, not because of the Schwartz or any player, but because of one horribly obnoxious rambling fan who takes all of this way too personally and seriously.
And, bastarde, there’s like 4 other mich people and lions fans on this board, don’t you think someone might’ve chimed in on yer side if they thought you were reasonable?
if your colts management, would you think future and draft Andrew Luck #1 from stanford and trade manning? kinda makes sense, no? or draft and trade him?
^^LOL, Doug. That’s usually why I avoid predictions.
Hey, at least you admit it.
I’d be happy if they chimed in with ANYTHING. I assume they don’t since it’s just utter shock from the 6-3 start.
Or…do you keep Manning and trade Luck?
I don’t know but them drafting Luck seems a bit short-sighted. There’s a LOT of holes on that Colts team due to a number of botched drafts in recent years. They haven’t been able to run the ball in years and the defense has holes everywhere.
It’s not like Manning was this big mobile quarterback…he’s still got some good years left by just standing back and throwing the ball. As much as folks like to proclaim Luck as the second coming and the “greatest college QB ever,” I’ve seen a number of failed NFL guys who look just as good as he does. Manning, even with the injury, is more of a sure thing than Luck who has proven nothing in the pros. Remember when Reggie Bush was the drop-dead, 100%, no-chance-of-failing, surefire #1 pick? And then Houston was blasted by everyone for picking Mario Williams? Well, who is happier about that pick now?
Again, I’m not saying I’m right…it’s just worth the look. The Colts are set at QB and not set at many other positions. Unless, of course, the Manning injury is far worse than we ever expected…but I can only comment on what’s been reported.
Trade the #1 pick (if the do in fact get it and if Manning is deemed 100% at the NFL draft) and get yourself 3-4 building block players for your secondary, OL and WR. Then, make a run for 3 more years while Manning plays out his final deal.
Heck, I wish the Vikes would be in the spot Indy is in, instead we will end up around 10 again and that is when that first round value in regards to trading starts to fall off…
My thoughts…
I am sure they will be picked apart and critiqued like hell, but fuck it - who cares anymore…
^Interesting. I’d get rid of Peyton if I were Irsay and Polian. If Favre can get traded, anyone can. The Colts have too many areas of huge need and a young core that can grow together with Luck. I do see your point with traded the # 1 pick for players and keeping Manning. Seeing as how no one is a sure thing in the draft I could see that happening too.
And I also hope we get a much higher pick than 10th. Last year we were 6-10 and had the 12th, but I see maybe a 4-12 year which would be around the top 5-7. Since no DB’s usually go that high (Patrick Peterson aside) I’d go with WR Justin Blackmon if he’s still there. I know we need a LT in Kahlil but Seattle used their first rounder on Carpenter and they still suck.
Lastly, if Matt Flynn stays in GB as a backup, it would be hilarious if Rodgers misses a few games/starts playing poorly and we begin to hear rumblings for Flynn. GB is a QB bullpen.
^Did you hear about that radio call from Paul Allen/Pete Bercich (Local Radio voices of the Vikes) when you said “Their PP just got run over by our AP!” Too funny!
I guess I see your theory too. I just think you could get so much Luck, if the right team, say like Miami was willing to trade up to get him etc…
If the Vikes could get the pick into the top say 5, that would be AWESOME!!!
^^Yeah, remember last year when Flynn started against New England and he was in it the whole time? Not a bad idea. Though I can’t remember the last time the Pack made a big splash with a trade…almost all of their moves are done in the draft which is pretty incredible. Charles Woodson is the last big free agent signing I can remember and he was “done” when they got him.
And it’s about the philosophy of the Colts. Do they think they can still win now? Then keep Peyton. If it’s rebuilding time…then get Luck. It’s that simple. Either way I would lean towards rebuilding if only because they’re not winning crap with Jim Caldwell. Use this year as an excuse to can him and start over with a new QB and coach. You can’t get rid of him if you want to try to keep winning.
Seriously, what fun last night last night was, especially since I’m the only one who picked Denver to win it in my pick-em. I was going back and forth and just decided it’s plain more fun to cheer the Tebows. I picked KC to beat them last week and wasn’t making the same mistake.
I was, of course, going a mile a minute with the Tebow/Jesus jokes at the bar. Suggesting things like “God pushed that Jets field goal wide” or “God thickens the air in Denver but only for Tebow” and suggesting philosophical queiries like “Do you think Tebow is the second coming?” or “If Jesus came back wouldn’t he become a football player?”
Seriously, it was fun being in a Florida bar during that game…there was pandemonium when Tebow ran in that last TD including a female Denver fan who immediately starting Te-bowing on the bar room floor after the celebration and then slapped hands with anyone who was happy for the moment, including myself. I do love how some are kind of making fun of the Te-bowing thing but ole Timmy loves it all the same…good to see he has a sense of humor on it.
Although maybe I’ll start buying my own jokes as that Denver team is noticably different. Surely it’s effect of John Fox’s system starting to have effect but that defense was not playing that great earlier this year. And that punter Colquitt could be MVP for the number of times he pinned the Jets within the 10. But I do think Tebow has an effect…these guys really like this dude and work their tails off to get him wins. It’s awesome.
And the Sanchise…wow, is he rough. Denver is never in it until he threw that INT for a TD. Him and Jaaash Freeman are similar this year…last year they’d be rough for three quarters and then turn it on in the 4th. This year, they’re just bad for all four quarters. Not good for the Jets.
What about a #1 about mid round, #2 and a #1 in 2012 for the #1 overall pick. If I were the Colts and Manning is ok, I would do it… If I were the Vikes and needed a QB, I would make the move… Chicago does not need a QB, Packers are OK at the spot as well… The Lions, well, yeah they have a QB, he is a china doll, but yeah…
I say keep Manning if proven to be OK and trade that pick to capitalize on many extra picks, ala NE Pats…
Yay, Lions! I don’t know how they can keep sucking in the first half and coming back but they keep doing it. And Kevin Smith!! of all guys steps it up. It always sucked for him before because his ACL injury really took away his first chance here…awesome to see him get it done…story of the week since he wasn’t on a roster three weeks ago. Either way it was a super-exciting game. Plus Stafford REALLY looked like the Bears game all over again at the start and turned out nicely…obviously having a run-game (also awful in the first half)helps.
At the same time, I’m VERY disappointed in the Lions. I explicitly stated that I wanted to see Cam Newton’s ear on EBay after this game and it’s still on his head! And I wanted the Schwartz to kick Ron Rivera in the nuts after the game and he didn’t do that either. This is ridiculous. What kind of Evil team IS this?
I was off on my other picks though. I picked the Vikes since they were at home and I figured Palmer would give them some gifts. Same with the Jags who couldn’t score from the 1…I just can’t figure out Cleveland games. And I just couldn’t imagine Buffalo losing three in a row and Miami winning three in a row and both just happened. I know we figured Buffalo’s D was shaky but what happened to the offense?
