Arrested Development

It’s a big day folks. Big day indeed. We have all been incredibly blessed by the hand of God to be alive in a day and age when a brilliant, canceled too soon, TV show can return to make us laugh again!

Watched the first 4 episodes yesterday. It feels very disingenuous to comment without seeing the entire season due to the way it is structured, but god damn I could have very well watched every episode straight through. Some of the green screen stuff, where they are blatantly not performing the scene at the same time is pretty…blatant, but other than that it’s like they never skipped a beat. I could use some more Gob and Tobias (Method One Acting class was amazing), but I’m sure it’s coming. Love all the callbacks and cameos. The chemistry is definitely still there. Oh man…posting in this thread is all I can do to not just load up Netflix at work.

Crap…it’s out. I’ve gotta catch up with Season 3…

So I’m 6 episodes in and loving it.

Perhaps the funniest moment so far was Michael saying “You ever even been on a plane, you piece of shit?”

Method One is genius.

The show, like Devin said, may be noticeably incongruent, but it is still amazingly funny.

Can’t wait to crush the rest of the season this week.

OK, finally rewatched the other seasons, and started on s4ep1 yesterday.

It was a decent episode. My major gripe is the sound engineer. Maybe I have a bad stream going, but for the first half of the show the music was played way over the actual lines of dialogue to the point I could barely make out what they were saying. Sorry if this was mentioned already, but it really grinds my gears.

Other than that, they really brought up a lot of things that happened during the “off-years”… and it is just pretty awkward, but I am fully ready for everything to be brought around full circle.

I waited to comment until after I’d watched all the episodes because I had a little difficulty getting into season 4 initially, and following the story. The pacing and structure are different and they don’t pack the same hilarious punch as the first 3 seasons. After finishing all 15, I feel much better about them as a whole. They get funnier as you go along because you get used to the new storytelling format and you begin seeing the bigger picture, which allows jokes to pay off from previous episodes. Some episodes are much stronger than others; my favorites were Tobias, the first George-Michael, and Buster.

My expectations were sky high. I thought they would hit the ground running, picking up perfectly from where they left off. Obviously, with the passage of several years, that wasn’t the case. I’m not being critical of the show when I say that, moreso myself. The show remains clever, hilarious, and most fun to watch. I already look forward to re-watching them, because I think they will only get better.

I’m FINALLY getting to being caught up on Season 3. I remember I stopped watching in the middle of the season as it just wasn’t that good and hadn’t watch for months. I just hit three episodes last night and they were hilarious…that must have a small bad stretch or something. Love the Boyfight videos.

Season 4 has lost me.

Prob my fav moment from the entire series is the “mole town” scene with Tobias in the mole suit, GM in the flying backpack and he Japanese investors looking on. That was brilliant.

^ Stick with it. Season 4 wraps up brilliantly. From episode 12 onward the jokes all start making a lot more sense. Go back and watch episode 1 directly after finishing the season, and you’ll be laughing your ass off the entire way through.

Hee Hee…I love that one too. Just ridiculous. I think my favorite is the “One-armed Guy who teaches the kids lessons.” So good.

I’ll try to plug along…

Go Buster!

^Wrong show, though…

Yes thank you. Found it more relevant to throw it in here,…

I had never seen this show. I knew of it, but I knew nothing about it.

Holy shit.

Jamie and I started watching last week. We’re a few episodes into season 2.

Incredible.

Literally laughing out loud constantly. (That really sums up the kinds of things I’m looking for in life.)

The netflix reboot is okay to bad… the original run is priceless.

Still need to watch Season 4. Don’t know if I’ll ever get there.

I’m always a little envious of anyone watching it for the first time, but the consolation, and good news for you, is that it is still laugh out loud funny after multiple viewings.

I was pretty floored by it the first time too. The first few seasons are awesome. The third one started to lose me for a while but I powered through and I thought it ended nicely.
