Audience Particpation

With the new leaf turned, I was thinking that it would be cool to organize some sort of new audience response. However, because I know some people have qualms with newer incarnations of audience participation (ie. “Hood”), I thought that we could use the OKP to brainstorm and organize something democratically. Here’s what I envision:

  • A Yes or No vote on whether to proceed.
  • A brainstorming thread where everyone throws out ideas.
  • A vote to determine the best idea.
  • A thread to work out the logistics of spreading the word (fliers, blog posts, etc.)

I think that with a little planning we could pull off something cool and add a little something new to the relationship between the audience and the band. I think that its important that we keep the positive, creative elements of the scene alive, so that phish continues to be something unique and distinct from the rest of the pack. I see it as sort of reminding the guys that, while we understand that they want to go a little more mainstream and strip down their responsibilities, we can still keep them on their toes.

And, you know that if anyone can pull it off, it’s the OKP.

So I’ll give this a week or so and see how people feel. So, vote, add your thoughts, and we’ll see where we’re at.

I was thinking that when a song gets like, really jammy, and out there, we could all throw those glow sticks/rings all over the place. It would just be the nifftiest thing out there man, and it’s like never been done before, ya dig!

instead of clapping during stash we could all laugh hysterically. that might be hard to change though.

there should be some insane lunatic laughter somewhere. like during meat when they stop and wait and then start back up. i don’t know if meat will be back in rotation or not though.
