Aurora Borealis

Last year I was at some bluegrass camp out deal up by the Ohio/Michigan border.

The Northern Lights were out and it blew my mind. I saw a rip in the sky.

This is a Google image search, but it looked very similar:

I used to see the lights occassionally when I lived in Oregon. It’s beautiful.

Anyone ever heard of the Marfa Lights in Texas?

Interesting lights but they’re attributed to car headlight. Still…when I viewed them, they looked like spectral orbs moving around the side of a mountain.

i’ve seen the lights a few times in my life. the first time being smack in the middle of a brightly-lit area of town near Detroit when i was about 14. they were intense, bright red. since i had never witnessed anything like that before, my brain decided it was a possible nuclear occurence, or maybe even aliens. then i remembered what the northern lights were.

since then i’ve been fortunate enough to catch them about three other times, once in middle-of-fucking-nowhere, Canada. always awe-inspiring.

I swear…a few of those look photoshopped…

of course they do… but i hear from those who’ve seen that they do appear like colorful brush strokes in the sky

me want to seeeeeee

I actually hand-painted one of them and somehow it ended up on the intraweb.

Not cool.

I’m not even all that North, but I’ve seen some crazy ass Northen Lights in the dead of winter. I’ve been out there when it just looks like daytime because those lights are so bright. It’s very deceiving when you’re tripping because sometimes the sky is kind of doing that anyway, but when you come to the realization of what you are actually witnessing it is pretty…um…nice.

I never ever saw the northern lights
I never really heard of cluster flies
Never ever saw the stars so bright
In the farmhouse things will be alright

^that’s my favorite Phish song!

No it’s not.

No.

It’s.

Not.

It isn’t.

It’s just not.

No way.

Can’t be.

Nope.

Sorry.

^It’s my brother’s favorite Phish song too. Either that or Wading in the Velvet Sea.

And my Dad’s favorite Phish song is Heavy Things…I’d complain but he doesn’t even listen to them or any music like that so it’s cool that he’d enjoy it.

Stevo

well, its not really my favorite song.

Its probably my 193rd favorite song.

and I can’t say I’ve ever had a good look at the Northern Lights, in person.

Anyone know if these occur in Burlington?

^i can guarantee that they do.

SWEET.

You might try a little ways away from town, light pollution and all. We caught them two years ago camping down near St. Johnsbury, in the fall I believe. Magical stuff really.

2 or 3 years ago i saw them down in ct, they weren’t very good. could see them, but just too far south to get a good view
