liking it better than the stuff i’ve heard from Shine.
I CAN’T STOP LISTENING TO BAR 17…just the way the first few lines are sung are just awesome
Trey’s voice is really cool in all of this stuff
^Same here, Astral!
I also like how the track ends right as Trey starts that little solo, almost like a teaser. I’m interested to here the ending to that song and can’t wait to here the rest of the album!
Is this album in stores right now?
Sorry if this has already been addressed in the thread.
^October 3rd my man.
my reminder is once bar-17 comes out… new season of south park
Question.
Record Label says: Rubber Jungle Records ?
Is this his or what? Never heard of Rubber Jungle
I kinda like the way his voice sounds by the way.
^ i believe that’s trey’s newer label…or i remember vaguely hearing that name in an article/interview.
its a label produced by trey, for trey
agreed. i love that album. it’s actually good, which is also why TAB was SO much better than 70VP, the material that is played helps. that and the horns!!!
bout to go on myspace and give this all a listen… i’ll be back with my take…
edit: it won’t play right now for me, seems like it won’t load correctly on myspace or something. lame.
^Keep clicking it, mine does that sometimes too.
wuts r they words in dragonfly? it feels alright with your boots and your dragonfly? i dont get it
Yeah…it doesn’t make nearly as much sense as Wash Ufizze Drive me to Firenze (sp?) or David Bowie, UB40…
when have Trey’s lyrics ever made any sense?
^Dragonfly was the tune that he just grabbed the mic and sang, so maybe he doesn’t even know…
October…a very good month.
Do you think around the 2:50 minute mark to the end on Dragonfly (on MySpace) is that fishman on vacuum. Turn it up loud. It sounds like it. What do you think?
Its difinitely not. Its a vocal harmony. It sounds obvious to me, maybe others will think different, but I’m absolutely positive its not vacuum.
Nothing wrong with wishful thinking
i’ve liked all of trey’s solo efforts so far. this stuff sounds like it’s gonna be really fucking good though!
Goldenroad…best avatar i’ve ever seen! that little guy must’ve spent some time in the joint, he’s really goin nuts ; )
I can see myself possibly buying this album, though I get the distinct feeling I will like only about half of it. But anything is a step up from ‘Shine’ at this point.
Here’s my problem with most of Trey’s new music: it sounds sentimental and maudlin. It’s kind of like the Paul McCartney syndrome: inside of the Beatles, Paul had 3 other voices to reign in his crap songs from his good. I can’t think of a Paul written Beatles song that I outright hate, yet a lot of his solo stuff has tons of filler and absolute dreck. Same with Trey post-Phish. I personally think ‘Shine’ was an embarassment of an album and was not Trey at all. At the most, it was a side of him that I don’t so much hate but feel sorry for–the part of him that wants to be a STAR in some capacity…
Whether you want to accept it or not, Trey is not like Jerry. I love Jerry’s voice just as much as his guitar playing and songwriting. Trey, however…I can see why his voice would turn people off.
Look I don’t know where I’m going with this, other than that Trey’s best stuff has always come when he’s worked with equals.
