Calling all bass players of the Oh Kee Pa. Does anyone have any experience with acoustic basses? I am in the market for one but not really sure what to buy as I’ve heard a lot of them simply aren’t loud enough. I’ve been looking at Dobro Basses for volume over tone. Any opinions?
well most acoustic bass’s still end up getting plugged in
a buddy of mine has an ibanez acoustic bass that plays very well, but you still need to plug it in if you want to hear it while playing with other people, you can hear it by itself, but it’s not super loud
That’s the thing, I want it for busking… Just for playing folk songs alongside an acoustic guitar and a mandolin. I just need the volume to be heard.
Ian, go for the gold and get yourself an upright. If Page can do it, I know you can.

I know what you are saying but I want something easy to carry around the place to go and busk. I’d have a bit of trouble taking an upright on the Tube! Even walking around would be a pain!
