I try to drink the beers before/after the show so i don’t have to leave as much during the show. as far as what song would i leave for— the connection and heavy things.
at cinci i had to go right before it started, as i was standing in line, the opening notes started and everyone in the bathroom was yelling “wilson”- pretty exciting for a bathroom break.
There is no particular song for me. I just hold it and hold it and hold it until I can’t holds it no more.
It might be during a monster, jammed out Stash or Mike’s. Or it could be during your average run of the mill Sample.
I just wait until I can’t hold it no more. More often than not, this usually gets me through to set break or end of show. Although last year at Alpine, I had to make a dash for it during KDF. Ended up missing KDF, Train Song, and just a bit of Farmhouse.
Too bad i just coudn’t wait, cause it was almost set break. Although I did make it back, flly refreshed for the Antelope. It also allowed for a set break meet-up.
45-50 minute setbreaks is plenty of time to pee. if i really had to go i guess axilla or ctb would be my songs…
I still have yet to accept Phish Lite. I don’t want a diet version of my band. See also: Farmhouse ![]()
But yeah, TTE is the ultimate break for any and all of your needs. They all fit in there; it’s elastic, after all. ![]()
Guyute might even give me enough time for #2
The one I shouldn’t admit was 12/30/03 SOAMule. I loved the set so much and I knew it was going to be horrible waiting in line. When Mule started I just dashed from the floor sprinted to the can and got back to in front of the sbd before the song was half over (3.5 minutes). Got to enjoy Gin, 2001>P-funk>2001 with an empty bladder and use set break to get closer to the stage.
Yeah…honestly, despite my comment above, I don’t think I’ve left a show so far during a set to go to the bathroom, but I did go to try to find more beer at Alpine when they were playing Wading, but apparently they stopped serving shortly after the start of the second set. Bogus, right? I also missed a tiny bit of Fluffhead at Deer Creek…in search of booze again…man, I think I’m learning something about myself right now.
I agree to that! I hate the concert bathroom thing. I sometimes come up with creative ways to relieve the bladder.
I’d rather use the porta-potty… which smells worse but atleast I’m not surrounded by 100 hairless monkeys.
I don’t have a piss break song… anytime where there is a lull and I gotta go real bad is fine… or set break but I hate wasting a half hour on going pee. boo.
6/6 in mansfield there was a mass exodus to the bathroom during Let Me Lie.
I will hold it to almost the verge of pissing myself before leaving during any song, regardless of how much I might not care for it. of the 13 shows I hit last year, I only left during BOTT at Great Woods because I was about to water the lawn. I didnt like doing it, but I got to witness Miami’s BOTT so all is good.
Like some folks who’s replied, I also don’t leave to pee during the set. EVER.
I try to sem-limit my water intake on days of shows, and don’t drink at Phish (MSG shows excluded). Of all the 85 or so shows I’ve been to, I’ve never left during a tune, and only tried to leave during The Lizards, at my first show, whilst I was temporarily blind. Made it about 10 ft before Fee, my favorite tune at the time, came on. I sat myself down and enjoyed it, vision returning.
and put it in the sink

i prefer to go during songs like Tweezer or Gotta Jibboo- you know, terrible songs that lead into killer jams.
that way, you’re busy during the terrible song part and back in time (with an empty bladder) to sink into the killer jam, though i think i’ve only had to go during either of those songs once. I also remember going during Back on the Train at Alpine.
other than that, i can usually control myself.
I only left during a song once. That Girls Girls Girls thing during the Vegas '04 run. ![]()
are you serious? you think the composed part of Tweezer is terrible? along with that of Jibboo? to each their own i guess, but the Tweezer riff is one of the most electrifying guitar rips i’ve heard live…
i try to never miss a second of shows that i’m go to, and I’ve been successful so far…I hardly ever leave me spot for any reason, even at set break, especially if its a GA show…i’m talking about all bands’ shows here…usually i’ve made a nice little drive to get to the show, and I don’t miss any of it
^no the riff is awesome.
like i’ve said before, i like hearing Tweezer live if only because of the jam its gonna lead into and the fact that you’re gonna hear Tweeprise later on.
as far as all the “look who’s in the freezer” whatev.
^
lowest point in Phishtory. Ever.
secret smile, bug, a few others
new bathroom break song = show of life. heard this on TAB winter tour twice. was nice at first, then got old. phish playing it = velvet sea’d, unless they rearrange it
^ I could see them jamming it out. It’s got some nice work by Trey already and could go somewhere.
