that twist is a great example of how good phish can be when trey steps back and just “compliments” the sound coming from the band.
It’s not a beautiful JAM, but Brian and Robert is just a damn beautiful song. The SOTG version is pure perfection, but live it doesn’t ‘hit’ the same way, although I think it could work well in a Mike’s Groove, coming out after a chilled post-tramps jam…
^I hate that tune.
I love Brian and Robert! Great song.
LOL, i just posted about that song under individuals…Just now…What a coincidence. (Spelling?)
I have always loved Page’s solo in YEM pre-WUDMTF, its always well played and what I consider beautiful. But I gotta admit, the first song I thought of was Reba.
I think the jams in Bowie after 96 or so are beautiful especially 00 - 04. Before that they were just insane musical adventures. Man, just thinking of Reba or Bowie gives me chills. Thank you, Phish
7/17/98 mike’s song at the gorge
once they start up the jam at about 11:20
its starry eyes my friend
I alway sthink Reba, Hood, Slave especially now when I hear them.
But Tela is truly beautiful not much jamming but very nice as a song
Piper from the New Years Run in Miami was just out of this world, listen for Page.
I really think the most beautiful jams come when you are listening really hard distiguish each member but have a tough time doing so. They are just playing so well together is impossible to hear one playing over, or out playing another. They are just in sync and everything is coming together
halleys comet from 12-14-95, up until they drop into that spacey, heavy section at the end before the -> NICU
Brian and Robert…ahhh I love that song too. I need to buy more of Phish’s studio albums…
you enjoy myself jam from 12/9/95 (best.yem.ever)
from about 12:08 to 20:15, not so much beautiful-will-make-you-cry, but more of a beautiful-will-make-you-very-very-happy thing. very groovy, melodious playing that’ll put a huge smile on your face.
^christ I need to get that show from somewhere…after I clean my hard drive a little
^Yes, I need to keep a look out for that YEM as well. Sounds like a real beauty.
I actually think the best Bowies were history in 1996. But isn’t that picture of Fishman in your avatar from 10/31/96 II, not from 2000?
If you’re talking about the one before the bass solo, I agree wholeheartedly.
9-14-00 LP3 about 2:00 into the Drowned jam Trey hits upon this theme that is just perfectly beautiful and for the next 5 min or so the jam is some of the most beautiful phish I’ve heard.
Lemonwheel Simple.
I was just giving this another listen becuase of the other thread. Really beautiful. I think most of them are though, this one just came to mind as I just heard it.
I just got that show , 07/10/99 today wow, your right what an amazing chalkdust. I really like this whole show acually.
i’ll definitely second that. the “BOAF,” although containing a similar jam, is one of my favorites.
10-31-98 “Sweet Jane” reaches an awe-inspiring peak with all members of the band firing on ALL cylinders sometime after the 6 minute mark.
