I’m just curious if anyone who had behind-stage seats at Hampton thought of the seats?
my only input is my preferred source to 12/19/1999, which was recorded with some MG 210’s from behind. The sound is definitely on back there in Hampton. As for the view, I haven’t seen a show from behind at Hampton, but I have elsewhere, and it obviously leaves a lot to be desired. As long as it’s in the building though, right?
I don’t know, I saw some videos from behind the stage, and because of the way their equipment is set up, you can actually see them just fine. I mean, unless their facial expressions are extremely important, the view is pretty good from a lot of those seats. It’s not like you’re just staring at the back of their amps the whole time.
I know people who prefer to be behind the stage. You get a really interesting perspective on the light show too, because you see what the band sees. I’ve been back there a couple of times, and it is kind of cool. I still prefer to be out front though.
Never been behind the stage at Hampton, but when I have been behind the stage in bigger arenas, the sound is usually very nice.
I was in right behind the stage in the upper rafters at Allstate (Rosemont Horizon at the time) 09-23-00…The sound at that place is not that great to begin with, but it worked pretty well for being behind them…The crazy shit is what you see, the lights on the crowd look crazy on shrooms and if you where at that show, you know about the MONSTER glowstick war that occurred during Stash!!! It looked insane from behind and the band cut the set short because Mike and Page got BLASTED by several sticks…Everyone should see at least one War from behind…It’s quite fun…
Also being a drummer it was a HUGE TREAT to watch Fishman from above and behind…Frankenstein solo looked so cool…
Also Tweezer Reprise lights from behind are fucking sick…The crowd looked like a big colorful, epileptic blob…
I was on the floor the 1st night and I still to this day think I had more fun from the rafters behind the band…
Hampton must have been sick from behind, I too would like to hear about that…
^ I’m also a drummer, so for about 25 minutes during set II Friday I sat directly behind Fishman. It was a great perspective of him, but with him being way over to the right in the old stage setup it wasn’t a great view for the rest of the band or lightshow.
Other than that I was camped at 2/3rd row right smack dab between Mike and Fish.
I HATE the acoustics of the Rosemont Horizon!!! Listen to Live Phish 14 and it’s probably the lowest sound quality of any venue in the series, except for MAYBE the Broome County Forum…
