[b]You can’t kill the metal
The metal will live on
Punk-Rock tried to kill the metal
But they failed, as they were smite to the ground
New-wave tried to kill the metal
But they failed, as they were stricken down to the ground
Grunge tried to kill the metal Ha,hahahahaha
They failed, as they were thrown to the ground
Aargh! yeah!
No-one can destroy the metal
The metal will strike you down with a vicious blow
We are the vanquished foes of the metal
We tried to win for why we do not know
New-wave tried to destroy the metal, but the metal had its way
Grunge then tried to dethrone the metal, but metal was in the way
Punk-rock tried to destroy the metal, but metal was much too strong
Techno tried to defile the metal, but techno was proven wrong
Yea!
wilde, i gave most of those albums a chance and didn’t dig much of it. for the record, i’m not a person who listens to jambands so please don’t think i’m judging those tunes through the lens of crunchy tunes. ultimately, i feel 2008 didn’t have any great albums. disappoint after disappoint for me. musically, i will remember 2008 as the year that i finally got into The Residents, and i feel like i’ve discovered a musical goldmine with them alone.
You have man. That shit can last you the rest of your days. Do you have Duck Stab yet? Eskimo? Not Available? You need that Early-Mid '70’s stuff and the American Composer series as well. I have a friend with every Residents release now, and he just went down to see them in Chicago for 2 nights this fall. I really should have gone…who knows when I’ll have another chance?
i listen to Eskimo daily. it takes me on a wonderful journey. “the festival of death” is one of the greatest tracks in the history of recorded music. i’m still awaiting a sendspace of Not Available from my friend.
That’s fair enough. I thought a few of 2008’s albums were pretty awesome, but I really don’t have much to compare against. This was the first year I really went all out on trying to keep up with what was current.
Did you listen to the new Animal Collective? I kinda think that album is pretty wicked.
the ziggens. not from 2008 but i just discovered them. nice mix of folk, country, punk, surf, and rock n roll. and sometimes goofy sometimes serious lyrics. http://www.myspace.com/theziggens1
check out the track “on the way”
Fleet Foxes has been going nonstop on my laptop…Quiet house, and Blueridge Mountains are my faves, but the whole cd is phenomenal. I feel like that shouldve been recorded in an old cathedral or something…or was it…
