theres obviously Big Cypress…but I really dig NYE 1995 and 1998 (1999 opener was great)
Cypress is a given. It is the Show among Shows.
After that, 1995 was great (another watershed for the band). 1997 is 3rd!!
I attended 96 through 03 and with all due respect to the other’s, Cypress is it!

It’s very close for me. 95 by a nose.
cypress cant even be contained in this list. even though it was a new years show, that whole weekend was basically one huge show. i dont feel this way about other festivals however. cypress was a celebration of everything phish had accomplished. much like the dead’s shows in egypt (but their playing was a little sloppy), cypress was the high point of phish’s career. the music played during that 8 hour set blows away any other show they ever did.
so back to earth, i’d vote for 1996. these 3 tapes are what got me into phish.
I got a news update that 12-31-95 will be OFFICIALLY RELEASED IN STORES on 12-20-05!!!

Big Cypress…I made it through the WHOLE set. Stayed up another 10 hours afterwards (without stimulants) just tryiong to free my mind and realize that I’d just seen history…and to drive back to Texas and lick my wounds.
I NEVER SAW ANOTHER PHISH SHOW AFTER CYPRESS. I had seen over 50 shows already, hiatus happened soon after, and I lost all interest for quite a while.
That was some special MILLENIUM!!!

only got to go t big cypress,for nye but now that this topic has come to surface i will now be downloading all the nye shows as to make an comparison and have an opinion on it in full.
but as of now i think that big cypress is by far the best show EVER of all time and of all the bands ive seen,its #1. there will never in a million years be something as wonderful as that (besides my children being born).

Oh, and my opinion is that Cypress rules them all. Only NYE event for me, 7+ hours, only outdoor NYE venue, the goddam fireworks and a beautiful sunrise.
