Best of Netflix Instant-Queue

BUMP. Don’t want to bump my own post, but I want to stress how kick ass this show is. Get on it.

^ I tried to DL some episodes but this show is not that easy to find. I think I found links for just the first 3 eps but that’s about it.

Double Post:

Well after I posted the response above yesterday I managed to find some links for the first season. So this show will be on my list of ones where I’ve DL’d, and waiting for the next time I decide to binge watch using my computer.

One step closer!

^Nice. I guarantee you’ll love it.

Just started up Boardwalk Empire,…but I might be able to squeeze another one in.
Thanks for the rec., haven’t heard of this.

I really enjoyed the first season of Boardwalk Empire. The 2nd season was good too. The last few seasons I really had to get through, but that was just me.

The Prohi character was pretty interesting. I also really like the phrase “Prohi at a Speak.”

I am three episodes in, after being hesitant because of a fucking terrible trailer.

But I am enjoying it!

^ Started watching this over the weekend. I think I’m on the 2nd episode.

So far, the show is just OK. The premiere episode was not able to stand on its own without the flashbacks to entice the viewer to continue watching. If you take the flashbacks out, the plot / details included in the 1st eps is lacking. In the 2nd eps, they tried to build suspense and intrigue by leaving out a key scene chronologically, only to reveal what happens later on the the episode. The re-arranging of scenes out of chronology seems to be a tactic employed by this show. Some part of that I like and some parts I’m not a huge fan of (e.g., 1st eps flashbacks).

The daughter is the chick from Freaks and Geeks. Good to see her getting some camera time.

I will probably finish this series but I’m not in a huge hurry to binge-watch the remaining eps. Maybe that’s a good thing.

^ I agree a bit, but just stick w it, it picks up very quickly. 2 Emmy noms for the show for a reason.

^ This is not a review because I’m not through it totally, but I’m four episodes into the series and I’m not feeling it. Possibly because I’m watching at the end of the day when TV generally anesthetizes me.

It must be me. House of Cards has been one of my favorites, but we’re struggling to get through this latest season. Only up to episode 10. For shame.

Don’t really know whether television and movies are just getting so saturated that it’s becoming harder to find quality product through so much dribble, or over the years, because I’ve seen so much, that it all just seems so blasé and predictable.

I find myself watching a lot of YouTube, especially when Jaime comes over. He shows me some incredible videos.

^ This season of House of Cards was tough to get through, but the last 3 or 4 episodes make up for it.

I think something like Breaking Bad really destroyed television. Every season was excellent, and that is a tough bar to beat.

I want to watch some good historic documentaries on Netflix (WWI, Russian Revolution, etc), any Netflix region (love my VPN), anyone have any good recommendations?

I think Bloodline was alright. It was nothing mindblowing, but it’s pretty solid. I think I like the setting more than anything, and Sissy, she’s a treasure.

Master of None is a GREAT new series. Powered through it in about a week, only ten episodes, but still. I would describe it as the new show about nothing.

Agreed. Great show. Harris wrote episode 3 or 4 I think (the concert episode) and contributed heavily to the writing before his passing earlier this year. I really didn’t expect to like that as much as I did. I gotta say, I was a little depressed after the final episode. Maybe that was not the emotional response it was shooting for, but that’s how it hit me, so there you go.

John Mulaney’s new standup special “The Comeback kid” is really good too.

Also watched 3 or the 4 new With Bob and David episodes, and maybe it’s no the Mr. Show of 20 years ago, but I’m enjoying it. It’s just silly humor, and I can get behind that.

How I rank the HoC seasons:

1 > 3 > 2

My grandson has been urging me to watch this special too. Maybe when he comes over tonight.

Found the same thing about season 3 of HoC. Was a real struggle to get through the first several episodes, but we flew by the last few.

I saw John Mulaney perform at my college about a year and a half ago. He was fantastic. One of the co-stars from his sitcom opened for him, he was also fantastic. I haven’t heard the most flattering this about his sitcom but his standup is very worthwhile. “New In Town” is the only special of his I’ve watched, I believe.

So, Jessica Jones sure gets pretty stupid right? Like, why do her powers seem to disappear whenever it’s convenient for the plot? I won’t say much more than that, but I do have two episodes left and I hope it ends as strong as it started, because it certainly fizzles by about episode 8. To be fair, Daredevil had the same issue towards the end of it’s first season, but I still look back on it pretty fondly. I’m all in on Netflix original programming though. They might be the best out there next to HBO.

^ They are almost their output for next year, too. (16>31)
