Best Post Hiatus Jam

Possibly. That’s why you shouldn’t do it.

:wink:

Wow, no votes for the IT “Ghost” yet. That’s my favorite part of the IT DVD.

I’ll vote for the Ghost from IT. If you were there, I don’t know how you could vote for anything else, maybe SPAC piper, but that’s IT

Nice call on the alpine 03 yem! That jam is so fluid and tight.

But, no one can deny the power of the nassau tweezer. No one.

I am a post hiatus fan, so many other jams also come to mind----twist from 4.16.04, twist, piper, and waves from spac 04, Wolfman’s from 6.25.04, Mike’s song from 6.25.04, Dwd from 6.24.04, weekapaug from 8.10.04, moma->free from 6.17.04.

Jeez, those are only the ones from 04, and 03 was a longer and stronger year, in terms of shows. I’ll list my 03 favorite jams later.

no.

do it now.

Whatever you say, sir!!

::backs away slowly::

03 jams/moments that come to mind:

2.16.03 Piper
2.21.03 Mike’s song
2.22.03 Gin, Bowie, Piper—>Paug
2.24.03 Halley’s->Hood
2.25.03 Theme!!
2.26.03 Moma Dance, Maze, Stash, Ghost
2.28.03 Gin!!! (the tweezer has already been mentioned) Back on the Train from that show is also amazing
7.12.03 Ghost
7.15.03 Mr. Completely
7.18.03 Down with Disease->Catapult!!!
7.19.03 YEM
7.22.03 Gumbo
7.25.03 Hood->Bowie (with Tweezer Tease)
7.27.03 Seven Below!!!
7.29.03 CE&P, Fee->Timber
7.30.03 SASS
12.28.03 Frankie Says
12.29.03 Piper, Wolfman’s, The entire second set.
12.31.03 Stash

I cast my vote for the 6-19 piper… tho it is not very educated vote as I have not heard half of wahst up there but from what I’ve heard it is just too… well its atypical and has a nice mix of beauty and the beast not to mention witnessing it live gives it that added flavor. Like cookies and cream on the belly of someone you love :-* :stuck_out_tongue:

I only saw 5 post-H shows ,so Im not the authority(although ,I don’t think there is an authority on “best evers”,its all perception).I voted the Tweezer from nassau because that was from the best show I saw or heard from the band Post-H .If i had to place the next four to round out my top five theyd go like this 2)-piper 6/19/04 3)-Ghost from IT 4)-C&P 7/29/03 5)-Gin 2/28/03
(I hadnt heard this band take a song out for such a great spin in a first set in quite some time until this Gin)

Honorable mention to WOTC from 6/19/04

I still can’t believe Zoot left the 7/29/03 “Crosseyed” jam off the poll. It’s almost like a kick in the nuts. Almost. It’s certainly top-5 material!!

i think BigB MAY have been the only one to mention it, but the jam out of “Drowned” on 6/20 SPAC is a force to be reckoned with!! LP just played it and it is truely rocking!

^I had mentioned it in the ???a thread but it didn’t make the cut :’( I squeezed my lemon so hard during the jam that the juice ran all down my leg… then, during set break in a drunken frenzy, went on and on about how good it was to the girls sitting next to me who were too stoned and probably scared by my idiotness to speak… but we had a good ol’ time dancing to that 2nd set wwwooooo11111zzzzzzz.

enough of nostalgia…carry wood… or er on…

I also feel the 2-28 Gin was the jam of that night… in spite of the obvo=ious sickness of the tweez… but I wasn’t at the show so poo.

exactly! Walls > Bowie.

SPAC Piper.

12/30/03 Bathtub > 2001

maybe bias because it was my first show.

anyone remember walls of the cave 6.24.04?
hot fire with a disease tease

I don’t remember much from being at that show, but I listen to that first set all the time.

the Antelope from set 2, although a bit rough around the edges, is pretty intense.

I remember The Wedge and Timber really well for some reason, though.

One of my buddies after the show was freaking out about that tease, but it didn’t stand out much in my memory.

the piper from 6-19-04 wins this one hands down imho.

the best shorter jam is the 2.26.03 Moma, but there are a handful of longer jams that I can’t choose between, including…

Vegas '04 Twist
Camden '03 SASS
IT and Gorge Ghosts
Alpine '03 Disease
Winter '03 Gins
and gorge and Raleigh 7 belows!
a handful of jams at SPAC

For shorter jam, it’s between the 2/16 Round Room and 2/26 Moma.

For longer jam, I’ve really been digging the 46 Days from IT for a long time. It’s like my go to “jam that Vern would hate because it’s so spacey and dissonant” jam. The part on the DVD they show of this jam is fucking money, but the other 30 or so minutes of it are great, too. I especially like how they slowly worm their way back to the main theme again.

I still think that the 2/28/03 Tweezer is the most fluid, consistently brilliant post-hiatus jam. Other jams from post-hiatus have better sections, but that Tweezer doesn’t have a wasted second.
