Big Cypress

15 year anniversary, no festival for several years, new album…hmmmmmm

Keep dreamin’ buddy.

May we get a clue into the Source of your Rumor, or is this ‘wishful thinking’ that has ended up in a Rumor’s thread?

By the same pattern (disclaimer: I have no connections as a Source for this info, purely wishful thinking):

  • 5 yr anniversary of Fest 8 (Halloween 2009)
  • 3 yr anniversary of SuperBall IX (July 4th 2011)

and extending this to all other Fests:

  • 18 yr anniversary of Clifford Ball (Aug 1996)
  • 17 yr anniversay of The Went (Aug 1997)
  • 16 yr anniversary of Limestone (Aug 1998)
  • 15 yr anniversary of Oswego (July 1999)
  • 11 yr anniversary of IT (Aug 2003)
  • 10 yr anniversary of Coventry (Aug 2004)

Turns out there were TWO festivals in 1999, so both venues are at their 15-yr anniversary.

I would put $$$ down that if Phish had two venue options for an upcoming fest, one being Big Cypress and the other being Oswego, the NE venue would get the bid.

Now, all this is moot if OP has a valid source.

They’ll never ever, ever do BC again.

^Why is that? I’m not arguing it, just curious as to why you felt the confidence to put that last ever.

I haven’t been back since Langerado was held there, but it had been severely invaded by fire ants then and I can only imagine it is even worse now.

Same reason as they will not go to Limestone. The fans are older and we want accommodations when we travel. Phish is not pullling 70,000 for a fest in a remote area anymore. We want Hawaii, Indio or some place easy like Watkins. Not the everglades or some remote spot in the middle of nowhere.

Yea, even the Gorge is ‘too remote’ for me.

I totally agree, however, I would not hesitate to go back to either Limestone or Big Cypress, too many good memories

More dancing room for me!!

Wait, I don’t dance …

None of these places are easy for me to get to. Fuck it, I’d do Cypress. I’m not that old…am I?

I don’t think age and accommodations (or lack thereof) keep people away these days.

I think it has more to do with families and grown-up responsibilities…at least for me it does.

I have no problem with camping out for 4 days at Limestone, Cypress or anywhere else on the face of this earth.

Accomodations def. keep me away… I’m not camping in a damn tent at a fest with wooks anymore (SB was the last time for that). RV or hotel all the way from now on. I do camp for many days on the Chesapeake Bay with my family.

I also think “families and grown-up responsibilities” increase as ages increases.

Therefore, they fall under “age and accommodation.”

Additionally, if you want to bring your family with ya, guess what?! You’ll need some accommodations. Camping out with babies and kids at a Phish fest takes a lot more work.

I never understood people who bring kids…I think it’s stupid to be honest with you.

My wife stopped going to shows in '05 when we started having kids…she would have panic attacks and want to leave a show. That got old fast.

As a matter of fact, none of the wives go anymore. All of which were all about it back in the 90’s. It’s reverted back to what it was like before we were all married. One big bachelor fest.
