Ghey. ![]()
Yeah, saw that on Live Nation’s site when I searched for “Phish” ![]()
“Big Eyed Fish” is a DMB song, but to pick that out of all their songs and then to change it to “Phish” is just plain lame.
That said, how’s “Looks Too Much Like Dave Matthews” (LTMLDM) for a Phish cover band name? ![]()
haha…well played.

^I think they had a similar type of meeting when Phish themselves decided on a name.
“Eh, let’s just name it after the drummer’s nickname”
(Smokes Bong. Ends meeting.)
And ya’ll know that I can’t read facebook links without logging in, right?
…But we really like both bands!
And we do a lot of jams!
hits bong
ponders
sips bathtub gin martini
…and I joined the band after they had the name, so I had no say in the matter. ha ha ha
adjourns meeting

HAHAHA!!
Touche good sir, touche.
Exceptional first post, welcome! ![]()
Representin’ the ROC. Nice.
ha ha! I thank you kindly!
I love the Roc! I grew up by Lyell and Emerson but Im south wedge now.
…but really, it is a pretty silly name.
At the very least, it’s memorable,
and I think the guys in the band are really cool so I’m good with it.
I knew the drummer Karl before I knew his band, and he’s ridiculous.
We would do these badass jazz/fusion jams at my rehearsal spot downtown
with these Eastman kids that would just wreck me on piano and guitar ha ha ha.
Maybe it’s a reference to “phishing”?..You know, spammers sending fake bank e-mails to get people’s personal info? Yeah, that’s the ticket!
well…
…there was that pyramid scheme that they made me sign up for when I got the gig,
but they said that was standard procedure.
Hmmm…
dammit.
Wow. The internet is a crazy place. How’d you find this here post peter?
Actually, my gf is a huge Phish head. I’m relatively new to them, but she’s been hanging out on lot for years, and I was sort of trolling around this forum and stumbled on that, which was really crazy! I didn’t realize that people outside of upstate even really knew we existed, so even though it seemed negative, it actually made me smile!
There is a general consensus in the Phish public that DMB is lame.
But I also have a general consensus, to each their own.
My general consensus is that both your general consensuses are correct.
Did everyone fill out their census forms and mail them back in? ![]()
Any publicity is good publicity, no?
I’ve never really listened to DMB, or tried to get into them much. One time, before I knew Phish much at all, I heard DMB on the radio, and I was like "whoa, this is good stuff!..Hmm, wait, is this Phish? Then I was politely told by the DJ that is was DMB was a little
But I think the anti-DMB sentiment floating around the Phish crowd is by in large due to his followers.
I think the crowds at DMB shows have definitely created a reputation for themselves bc the band is so mind blowingly/disconcertingly popular that you get a LOT of different people, and with more people you generally end up with more douche bags. I’d say the cool kids/douche ratio is somewhere around 150:1 but there’s no doubt that one person messes everything up for everyone else ha ha. Metal music is like that too. there are some really great bands, but there is so much hate and aggression at shows that it’s just not a fun experience at all.
My general consensus is that music is more about what I like rather than what I don’t like, and there’s a whole lot more in the “like” section than the “dislike section” (which basically consists of 50 cent, i just don’t like him sorry!)
