Billy Breathes

Pretty little song I’ve just gotten into recently. Are there any jammed out versions?

Nope, but I think it sounds better on the album anyway.

'95 versions = da shiznit.

Studio version and tight live versions are greatness.

latly iv been listening to this song alot and the sound that comes out about 3/4 the way through touches me everytime.

I love this song, and the studio version in particular. I’ve heard peops bitch about it being a song that can bring down a set, but I diagree and think it’s a perfect break after a few rockin’ songs to calm ya down a bit. It’s also one of my favorites to play on the guitar too.

Those same people probably cringe when Jerry sang Wharf Rat! Fuck em!

Tumbling greens a pickup screams
Alone above the square
Who oh sing softly
Above the trees where Billy breathes
We float upon the air
Whoa oh softly sings
sweet songs
Silent scenes emotion beams
I wake you iand we’re there
Who oh sing softly
Time it seems and broken dreams
To sleep beside the stair
Whoa softly sings sweet songs
Whoa oh softly sing sweet songs

I love this song and I think it fits perfectly after reaching a climax from some serious jamming. Giving the legs a rest is always nice, b/c I’m sure you’ll be running again in no time.

10.18.98 contains an acoustic version, which is quite beautiful.

anyone know of any really noteworthy live versions?

8-10-97 is quite nice!

4/3/98 very pretty

Loving this song recently

I love this song too, especially as they hardly ever play it. It makes it a real treat. It comes off very nicely on the album too. I thought the Light>Billy Breathes segue was brilliant…I think that was the first time I’d seen them play it since Deer Creek 2000.

They soundchecked this at RR last summer and it was simply magical to hear this while walking around the side of the amphitheater and hearing it through the rocks.

It was just fucking awesome.

I think this song gets a lot of hate sometimes.

It is one of the more rock-balad type songs that emerged in the mid-90’s, somewhat reshaping how the band wrote songs, both musically and lyrically.

Love this song. Studio version is very noteworthy, as with the rest of the BB album.

Prefer the studio version to most live ones I’ve heard.

^^^Hmmm, I forgot I wrote that and was about to come in and write it but I already wrote it before…

^ Stoner move.

I like this song a lot. I haven’t seen it live, but I would like to. In fact I think the whole album makes for a great listening experience.
