ahem…
its in POMPANO BEACH, thank you.
its funny whenever that happens. I’ll be at a show in Pompano or Ft Lauderdale and the guy will be like “Its great to be back in Miami tonight!” and everyone in the crowd is like “um…what?”
either way, i don’t think i’ll make it. I usually play ultimate frisbee on Sundays and i haven’t played in a few weeks…and i’m not a big fan of either of these bands. If I do wind up going though, i’ll be in the park outside with a blanket and a cooler of beer.
it’ll probably be a fun time though. Enjoy my neck of the woods!
heh, will do. i’ve lived in miami my entire life and i still consider “miami” the all-encompassing city even though there are districts and cities that are obviously NOT miami, haha.
i’m not so much of a fan of bisco or umphrey’s but i haven’t been to a show in a long time and i’m craving some live music i can dance to.
what park do you play ultimate at? i play disc golf every week at indian hammocks park (ACTUALLY in miami).
nice avatar, btw. “i’m not even supposed to be here today!”
don’t know that park in Miami.
don’t know much about Miami at all actually.
I’ve only been down there probably 4 or 5 times in the past 10 years. I rarely make it any further south than Sunrise Blvd. here in Ft. Lauderdale though i like to frequent all points north on the east coast. I guess you could say i’ve spent more time in Pittsburgh, Orlando, Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park, Stone Mountain Georgia, Portland Oregon, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Bonnaroo, Asheville and Titusville than i’ve spent in Miami even though i live like 35 miles north. So i’ve never considered myself from Miami before. I guess its a lot cooler than some other major cities i’ve been to though, so whatever. I just never have a reason to go down there.
I play ultimate frisbee in a big field in between a big office building and a church on Commercial Blvd. and US1 a couple miles from my house. It started as just some friends of mine about a year ago but its grown into a tradition of us, some other friends, distant and close, little brothers, older siblings, fathers, random professionals that take it way too seriously and piss me off sometimes and some other one timers as well. Its usually followed by a congregation at the neighborhood pizza parlor.
the show was pretty awesome.
Umphrey’s played first. i had never heard Umphrey’s live until last night. i enjoyed the music but they were not impressive at all. they sounded like any generic new jam band on this scene. they weren’t original at all and at times downright boring. they had a couple high intensity jams i could dance to, but musically they just weren’t impressive to me.
Bisco, on the other hand, was great. i had heard them play about two shows live at Langerado last year and liked what i heard so i was expecting some good shit. i definitely wasn’t let down. they synth-elements in their jams are righteous - they do a good job of making their music original, which is a relief. i definitely enjoyed their set way more.
the venue was awesome. the amphitheater is right across from a high school which probably using it all the time for school events. it was really small…i’m bad at estimating attendance, but i’d guess that there were roughly 500 people there. it was so small that we all parked in the high school’s parking lot…though public high school’s can be fucking monolithic, so that doesn’t really say much about the amount of people there.
had a bitchin’ time, good music (mostly), and a great place. thumbs up
^500?
Pompano Amp?
i’d say probably a few thousand.
but i don’t know. I’ve only been inside a couple times and it was always a long time ago. Usually i sit out in the park and listen for free. Heard lots of good shows there like that.
BB King
Trey Band 2002
Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks
Flecktones a few times
Oasis
Govt Mule
they used to have Warped Tour in that park and use the ampitheatre as one of the stages.
good times.
lots of memories at that place.
well, i’m off to get drunk now.
hey you should check out this show of the biscuits, best one imo of 07’

glad you liked their tunes, it is great to dance to, makes shows lots of fun b/c your moving instead of just kinda standing their waiting for you face to melt, b/c as we all know sometimes the band won’t melt your face, than all your left with is sore feet and a sour ear
