With a trip through California this week that has resembled a political campaign swing and an announcement late Tuesday that he is leaving the Republican party, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has managed to fuel rumors that he is edging closer to a run for president even as he reiterates that he has no plans to do so.

He may be the perfect third party candidate since he will probably draw votes equally from the other two parties.
