part of the whole bonnaroo thing that bothers me is that i like going to teh phish show because i KNOW i’m pretty much only going to be with teh phish people…

No thanks to the Roo…would love to do Knoxville. 
frustrating part is that there usually IS other performers i would like to see at Roo… but it just doesn’t vibe well for me.
super sux since one of my OTHER favorite bands, MMJ, played and career defining performance at Roo in 04, but things were different back then methinks…
for the record, i think Phish + Bruce at Roo “Glory Days” is pure fire, but still hard for me to imagine going…
Definitely in my top 5 witnessed live musical moments. I was speechless. I am a Springsteen fan though, too. Ultra epic.

Phish sunday night bonaroo 09 was pure amazing. Especially set 1.
But yeah, I can vouch for the idea of seeing phish and seeing other bands in separate situations. Its a whole different level. I watched the phish “late night” set at Bonnaroo from a little further back so we could hang with the rest of our campsite (Phish rookies) and it was lacking that Phish magic energy. We found the cure though. For the closing night set, we went up close…and dosed. And it was wonderful all around.
I would go back to Bonnaroo if Phish was playing 2 nights again…as long as the other headliners are not Kanye West, Eminem and Metallica.

i mean the first i heard about it happening i was like “meh”… i’m not a springsteen fan (and that’s probably based on a lot of misconception). regardless, he doesn’t generally write or play a type of music i can get into, so…
but after finally watching youtube vids of the performance, i didn’t like mustang sally too much, bobby jean was ok… but even tho i wouldn’t stop the radio dial to listen to Glory Days, i think that that performance brings so much phish rock n roll heat i think it really is great.
as for the “mr piano player” bit… i mean its a total embarrassment for springsteen, and a pretty shitty slight to Page, who, if anyone remembers, was the only one in Phish who vouched for springsteen during 2.0 when they were doing the iPod kick.
point to me is Trey solos the shit out of that song, and the way mike and page push the jam higher… well, i’m just impressed they took music i don’t like and made it an exciting and fun listen.
anyway, what a sidetrack!
