Yes. Yes.
Trey was on fire. Energized. Smiling. Ripping on the guitar.
New songs sounded great. Particularly that song “Light” about
walking a straight line and circles. That’s a really strong song
and had an excellent peak in the jam.
Trey is veering into more ‘serious’ adult, singer-song writer
territory. (He loves Elliot Smith, etc.) And he’s doing it well.
When I was hearing all those new songs…I felt like I was
hearing the future of Phish. Very cool!
And oh…the crowd. Hmm… At least last night:
Seems to have gotten older and even more male-centered.
They’ve replaced the acid with lots and lots of BEER.
And they’re stumbling and bumping into you (and your girlfriend)
the whole show. It was really a messy, messy audience.
People just plowing through the crowd instead of the light
tap on the shoulder and the brief “excuse me”…which really
works better.
It was MAD loud in there. Sounded beautiful. Kuroda had
the place looking amazing. Everybody burning. Lots of fun.
Even with the drunks…Straight up A- show for me.
There was one taper that I saw. He was hugging onto his
equipment for dear life. Let’s hope he got a nice recording…
