so…i have comcast basic cable…i was wondering if i acquired a cable modem could i hook it up and start internetting?

my friend had his hooked up just for his computer and then i suggested trying it in the tv…basic cable worked…so i was thinking why couldnt i just do it in reverse…or something.
you would have to call comcast and tell them you want to add internet. then you can hook up the modem
I think he is wanting to avoid the whole “Letting Comcast know I’m in their pipes stealing their internet” thing.

i think with my isp all i had to do was plug in a modem and internet was automatically added to our account
Just cancel the cable and get cable internet instead…you can watch all your favorite shows online then and you don’t have to watch commercials. I don’t see a day coming where I’ll ever get cable again.

Get rid of your cable TV, it fucking blows. The computer is so much better, and it’s a much better investment as well.
